I had already made peace with the team we have, I do think you take the highest character of the 3, best chance of keeping or adding to good chemistry. Any chance of a kid disrupting the locker room just pass and go with what you got.

This needs to be like the movie draft day, deep dive into his character before you agree to anything.

Kam's foot injury is going to linger on. Jones fractures are hard to heal and if I'm the staff I'm not counting on Kam Williams to be there when he's needed. The upside of Kohler is that you add him and he meets almost all the needs of this team in one player, including allowing Milan to move to the 3 spot so we don't get abused on the glass in the SEC. Hawthorne backs up Milan. The rotation wouldn't even need Kam. If he's healthy, fine. If not, you can still compete for a Final Four.

This team won’t have trouble scoring without Hall. Problem is they’ll need to score 105 to beat the good teams given how bad they’ll be defensively.

Spot on. I think Mitchell provides the same. Less bulk but more athleticism, all in all a net wash. Assuming Kepnang is healthy, my only concern (if Mitchell or Kohler were added) would be backcourt depth. There’s just not much behind Diallo or Wilkins. I don’t think either are all SEC capable, but they’re serviceable. No great, but probably good. I don’t buy the hype on Mason Williams and Morton is super limited. That’s about all there is. It just seems so easy to build guard depth, but Pope never seems to do it. In his first two yrs I’ve seen Travis Perry and Colin Chandler play PG for extended periods. Oof.

Wilkins and Zoom aren’t just ball dominant scoring guards. Can they score yes but their assist rates are also high.

Two of your four guards can’t play. The other two, at best, are probably extremely limited. I agree you don’t need a bunch of ball dominant guards, but you’ve got to have some that can fill minutes and not have a huge drop off…Also agree, the need is a 4 like Kohler or Mitchell. I just simply said guard depth would be my only concern. Every team has concerns.

I don’t worry about the locker room so much. It’s the fit. He’s a bully ball get his type guy and although he can score and make plays just don’t like the fit with how the team is constructed. I would def take him but Kohler is the way better fit and need. Mitchell would be next.

Not all stats are built the same too. We already know that mid major ppg game averages don't translate well to P4 ppg averages due to the jump in skill level of competition. There's also a difference though in high ppg on garbage teams verses high ppg on stacked teams. And we often get caught up in that when comparing players.

Anthony Davis looks solid but pedestrian (14 ppg and 10 boards) against Keyshawn Hall's (19 ppg and 7 boards) as a "scorer" both in the same league in a vacuum of just using stats and conference/level. Your stats can be deceiving if you are the only scoring option on a bad team carrying the load, verses a skilled player with multiple scoring threats around you sharing the load, verses stopping you being the entire opponents game plan. Context matters.

Counting on hawthorne to contribute is a mistake which is why hall would be such a big add

Tis my concern. There’s a HUGE drop from the two starters to whomever is going to fill the minutes. And I’m not convinced the starter are great necessarily, but I think they’re good enough…if there was some depth. I’m also not sure either of them shoot it well enough. What happened to the Jaxson Robinson and Kobe Brea type recruits??? If you’re gonna play the way Pope wants to play, go get knockdown shooters (yes, Mom, I know but it takes more than one).

That comment was made under the assumption we get Mitchell or Kohler. Yes, I agree there’s currently a hole in the starting lineup and that’s the biggest need. Our convo that was being had was based on my one and only concern should Pope land Mitchell or Kohler.
