played second base for the Reds if memory is right. What is it that you don't like about him?
I always enjoyed listening to him.

I know zero people that like Joe Morgan other than Pete Rose and Joe Morgan.

Secondly, you have to know your days are numbered when the stick someone else in the booth to correct your idiotic statements. I felt bad for Orel Hershiser for having to put up with him. I feel even worse for Jon Miller for having to put up with him for 21 years. There were times where you could feel Jon Miller having to restrain himself from ***** slapping Morgan.

and his shameless self promotion on the air.

When I watch a baseball game, I want to hear the announcers talk about the game, and the players that are playing the game at present. Not about how great the guy announcing the game was as a player.

Joe Morgan is indescribably ignorant. I cannot believe
there are human beings that are capable of defending his staying in the capacity
of a baseball commentator.

For example
Miller: So, Joe, why to the players wear those leather mitts?

Morgan: Well I'll tell you the reason they wear those things. You see, that's called a glove. And what that glove does it it enables the fielders to catch the ball. Because when the ball comes off the bad, it got a lot of power behind it. And the players use those gloves to help soften the impact of the ball on their hand. I remember back when I was playing, we didn't have all these fancy styles and colors that they do now, but nowadys, gloves have evolved into a real important part of the game. It's a difference in they way the game was played back then versus how it is now. And I rembmer, because I was with (insert name of greater-than-morgan hall-of-famer here) this past weekend, and he told me about when the players used to just leave their gloves on the field. Nowadays, they don't do that, you see. But the glove has really become a crucial part of the game of baseball. Without it, I don't think we'd see many of the great catches that we see in the major leagues.

Miller: And, of course, few have caught the ball better than the great Joe Morgan as wee see the Braves score two on the suicide squeeze followed by a throwing error on Paul LoDuca.

Morgan: Well now I don't know about that, now. It was just a different, different game back then. We didn't all of those fancy colors. We had one color, brown. That was it. And then some guys started getting that black leather gloves, and we all really thought that was just something special. But again, now, with all of this talk about steroids (insert 5-min rant about steroid abuse)...

I have to agree with Todd. I am glad to see him gone. This dates me, but when he started out 21 years ago he was fresh and actually did well. It didn't take long, however, for him to develop the theme of I was a great ballplayer and I have vast knowledge of the game and I'm going to make sure you have both facts continually rammed down your throat every chance for the next nine innings.

There were times he would correct or "educate" Miller and I would think to myself if I was Miller, I'd stick my electronic scorecard up Morgan's ***.

I thought Hershisher did a pretty good job. I guess they leave him alone with Miller in the booth?

Now if Fox would just do something about McCarver, the white man's Joe Morgan.

than Joe Buck, Tim McCarver and this whole board combined...times ten. Some don't like his commentary and that's fine. I personally like to listen to people who you can tell actually understand what they're watching.
