Had the opportunity to take my 9 year old son, who happens to be a big Dixon fan already, to the MSU/UK game this past weekend. My son was adamant in his stance that he would rather watch the Bulldogs play than get candy from neighbors.
So, after obtaining tix on ebay from a devout UK fan (<span style="font-style: italic;">he actually wrote notes as if I was a UK fan, guess since I live in KY?, saying "that the seats are so good you can get into the MSU players heads"</span>) and it also came with a parking pass. Nice deal, and nice guy that sold me the tix.
We get to Lexington around 4:20 pm and go to the stadium, hoping to score some autographs for my son. He has an MSU jersey (#24, of course) and he is into the autograph thing, I am not. None of the known players tend to be available pre-game, so we settled into some hot chocolate (was damn cold) and nachos, good wholesome football food.
Tickets were 40 yard line, row 2. Right behind the MSU bench. UK fans verbalized them while we sat and watched. Some players get upset, some provoke (Burns). Was an interesting social experiment with a whopping going on in the background. Dixon was freaking unbelievable. He was a "man amongst boys" as noted by one of my surrounding UK acquaintances.
From the beginning of seeing Dixon get off the bus with his iPod, he carried positive power with him that day. He was 'in the zone' from the time he arrived @ Commonwealth stadium until he left. Dude was unbelievable. I was one of his biggest critics when he was carrying 20+ extra pounds trying to emulate his fat *** coach, so to see him deliver this level of running/carrying the ball now is a treat we should all enjoy for the remaining season (and next on Sundays).
My son was able to get autographs from Berry, Banks, Chaney, Lee, and of course, Dixon. He had the "best Halloween night of his life."
(Good luck charm?)
Also, might be worth knowing that my son is also 2-0 @ MSU games. Took him to Rupp last winter and you know what happened there? He got to meet Meo too. ;-p
Hope you enjoyed my experience.
Peace.
