we kicked a man to the curb with over 30 years as our PA, and we did it with no fanfare or public recognition. Jack will be next....mark it down.

I think most people still enjoy Jack on the radio but Flick it was kind of 50/50. I liked him for basketball but he kind of got on my nerves for football.

im pretty sure he will only stay another year or two before he retires. There is no reason for Byrne to fire a guy like Jack.

suggests that Jack and Flick are in the same category. Flick is a nobody, and Cristil is a legend.. Flick should have been canned 29 years ago. Cristil is among the best play by play announcers who has ever lived and is recognized as such by his peers. The only way Cristil leaves is if he quits or becomes an embarrassment to MSU. Cristil is not as good now as he was twenty years ago, but he is as good now as he was ten years ago. The man is amazing for his age, and I have not observed any significant diminution in his broadcast skills in recent years. The PA announcer at the spring game is a pro--far better than Flick ever dreamed of being--and I cannot tell you how glad I am that I don't have to listen to that squeaky, high pitched voice at basketball or football games in the future.

when he said a few years ago- and I quote- "When it's time for me to go, just let me know, and I'll get the Hell out of the way."

Unless we royally mistreat Jack, which I guess is a possibility, I don't think we'll see the hard feelings like we did with Flick.

Also, before Jack goes, I'd like to see his microphone retired or some sort of tribute at the Scott Field Memorial Indian Burial site.

Flick was fired because he wasn't very good at what he does, regardless of how long he was allowed to do it. You don't give farewell ceremonies for people who get fired. Save that stuff for those who serve well enough in their position to retire, ala Jack. Flick was FIRED!

has been outstanding regarding his caustic comments. Maybe his game calling has slid some (not much) but his trend to express his frustrations have been jewels. Absolute jewels. Piss on the tight ******** who get offended by his comments.

The man can't see. He can't follow the action. He calls players names wrong. I remember actually being angry at him when we played @ UAB and Omar Conner scrambled on 4th down for about 25 yds and a TD in overtime.

"Omar back to throw, and........................touchdown"

WTF happened, Jack?

Then Jim Ellis explains it.

Jack was great for a long, long time. But his time has come and gone. Years ago. At least as long ago as Sherrill's last year.

But GB won't get rid of him. He's said as much.

in no way have I suggested Jack and Hank are in the same category. Flick is not a nobody and Jack is most certainly a legend in the arena of broadcasting. Flick was canned, and unless Jack announces his retirement in the next year or so he will also be canned....just my opinion.

and my post is in no way intended to knock him at all. He tells it like it is and has never offended me with any of his comments. However, Jack's time at MSU is about up; I hope he retires with the great dignity he deserves and doesn't allow anyone to force him out.
