Jumped so high he touched the sky,
Never got back till the fourth of July.
Walkin' the dog,
Just walkin' the dog.
Been running through my head all day so had to pull up Aerosmith and relive my days at State a bit.
Turns out it was a cover written by Rufus Thomas born in Cayce MS (had to look that up). Another addition to both the great cover songs and MS musicians threads.
Rufus C. Thomas, Jr. was an American rhythm-and-blues, funk, soul and blues singer, songwriter, dancer, DJ and comic entertainer from Memphis, Tennessee. He recorded for several labels, including Chess Records and Sun Records in the 1950s, before becoming established in the 1960s and 1970s at Stax Records

State fan? :)

More like 1000 to ZERO
We have fought two wars. Our Revolution was a resounding victory for the new United States and its allies. Our War of 1812 was something of a side show in the overall Napoleonic Wars. It was effectively a draw in my book. We won the biggest victory of the war at New Orleans, after the peace treaty had already been signed. The British burned Washington. It was a disjointed mess, and the Brits had MUCH bigger fish to fry. Overall, it proved the American Republic could and would defend itself. That wasn't a given at the time. Sometimes a draw is a very good result. For the US in that war it was.
