No, because you can't do it (easily) in Alabama
I think you have to have it shipped to a State store, or at least some liquor store, and go pick it up and pay taxes on the spot. We have some pretty archaic laws when it comes to alcohol.
I understand you can do it in Mississippi with no problem, so it seems like a good way to go to me. And you can get some bargains that way.

It is no problem. Shipping can get you. Just find a site that is located if possible close to where
you want it shipped. Hopefully like other poster it is not in one of the 17ed states...

Since when can we do this in M'ssippi? I'm about to have some quality internet time if the law says we can.
Virginia just recently was forced to change it's law on shipping ...
wine 'into' the state. Virginia allowed wineries 'inside' the state to ship wine anywhere but didn't allow Virginia state residents to order wine from other states and ship ii 'into' Virginia.
The court frowned on this obvious conflict of interests and we can now order wine and ship it into Virginia BUT don't think we can ship spirits into the state. We can make beer and wine but the revenuers will still put you into jail for running a still. Go figure.

I was looking to buy a case of wine online a few years ago, and you couldn't send it to Alabama but you could to Mississippi. That's the extent of my knowledge on the subject. Could have been a mistake on that particular web site. I was going to get it shipped to someone in Starkville, then pick it up at a game, but I never did try so I don't know what the real policy, or law, is.
Two years ago I had a case of wine sent to me here in MS from a large CA store with no problems. They
sent it in a special case UPS. Maybe they didn't know the rules....

however, this xmas, I sent some bottles of wine thru wine.com as a gift to my in laws who live in Port Gibson. No problem. I don't know what the difference is, maybe because its a club? I don't know, but you can surely do it, and there are several wine club sites. I researched them all. wine.com ended up being the best bang for the buck.

So they shipped to Mobile? Does he have a liquor store or something, because what you related is the exact opposite of my experience. In fact, within the past 6 months I've read a newspaper article on the subject that said you could have it shipped, but it had to be to a State liquor store (or perhaps a privately owned one ... can't remember), and then you go pick it up there. I think part of the reasoning is that they are sure to collect their taxes that way, and also can insure that you, the buyer, is of legal age (as if that would prevent underage drinking).
For years, I've used Wine Chateau to get wine by the case and cognac delivered to MS. Delivered by Fedex in boxes labeled as "alcohol" or something like that. Requires a signature. They are in New York/New Jersey area. http://www.WineChateau.com

I am not sure what the requirements are, but it has seemed there are some that will ship to states, and some that wont. that was 2009 to my friend in mobile. that particular order was to his house.

Thanks for the link. Looks like they will ship to Alabama but not really legally if what I read in the local newspaper is correct.
It is against the law to have it shipped to your house in MS, period. "Wine clubs" are not supposed to do it, either. The stores cannot even get it sent directly to them from a winery or distillery. Everything has to go through the warehouse at Gluckstadt. We even have to have our samples shipped through the warehouse and we have to go pick them up ourselves.
The way around the law of having it shipped to your home in mississippi is you "buy" it in the state the store is in. And pay the local taxes. They just deliver it to your home. You are limited to a case of wine. Not sure on spirits. But purchasing in another state for personal consumption is not illegal in ms.

Still have the bottle which was custom made. It obviously wasn't full strength and more of a novelty. It tasted, looked, and smelled just like the original green NyQuil.
I look back on it now and think how boneheaded it was to buy it from there and subsequently drink some of it. I mean.. Buying unregulated absinthe from the Czech Republic that came with writing you can't understand? What could go wrong?

You first have to write the ABC, get permission to have x amount of wine shipped, x number of times. Has to be shipped to a state store only (your pick) and you pick it up there. You have to pay taxes due on it with a check, not cash, made out to the ABC. Two to three bottles shipped from a winery in CA a few years ago was less than $1.00 in tax but you still had to write a check for it.
Unless you just pack it up nicely with other odds and ends and send it at the local fed ex store.
