It's been heading that direction for a while now, and now it's totally out of hand. People think they are being sooooo clever and witty by adding hashtags to things. Doesn't help that their are advertisements of people saying "Hashtag Big Sale Today!!!"

Blame instagram. Most sensible people only use 1 relevant hashtag on Twitter or Facebook. But on IG, it IS the language.

"there" is the new " their" also, check it out before IT gets totally out of hand too!

The fact I don't watch mainstream TV makes me a lot more hip or something like that.

In ten years, Facebook has gone from "connect with college students" to "pictures of grandkids and food"

I think the younguns aren't even joining Facebook any more

I know I've met some high schoolers who think FB sucks, they just use Instagram and other ****. At first I was too old, now I'm too young for it..

I use them for sarcasm. I hate them otherwise.

#hashtaghipster #betterthanyou

Seriously though, they are good for organizing data on social media, but beyond that they are annoying.

I think I am more annoyed by the selfie. We get it. You are lonely and/or narcissistic. </SPAN>

Yup, the original college-age user group is no longer going to keggers and partying all night. I get a lot of "Johnny finally used the potty like a big boy" updates and such.

I've about quit using it all together** for that very reason. I know other parents and grandparents care about that stuff, but I don't care to know the details of how Lucy's water broke or a detailed menu of what you had for supper, then watched on tv. It's become oversaturated with family stuff... Which is fine... I just don't really care about it. Maybe I'm just too insensitive or something.

And while you are frustrated that your newsfeed is filled with click-bait headlines, what Facebook has planned next will shock you.

When we were on ezboard - you did not have to enter something into the body of the post - only a title which is great in threaded view. When it switched to yuku - the post required something in the body and title so people would type something in the body that ended with -ku because Yuku required it-ku.

Facebook is definitely on the decline with the young people I know and work with. They don't care to have mom and dad (and all of their family of that generation or older) follow their every move online.

Speaking of click bait... Check out www.clickhole.com. Basically it's a site full of ******** that makes fun of buzzfeed. I think the onion started it.

One of my favorites.... http://www.clickhole.com/article/5-tips-****-good-823

ETA: it blocked out the f-bomb. Copy and paste the URL and substitute f*** in place of the asterisks in the URL. To be on the safe side, NSFW.

I quit facebook all together about a year ago. Stupid thing is just gossip, awful memes, and kid pictures.

I was recently made aware that the % sign is becoming the anti-hashtag symbol. The way it was explained to me, if someone hashtag's something and someone else follows it up with a % whatever the hashtag was, it basically means 17 whatever the hashtag was for.

#sunshine --> %sunshine = 17 your sunshine

Since we're laying things out in the open. I've picked up on most everything here except for...aGAIN.

Is that just to add stress for multiple groan-inducing instances? As in, we missed a field goal aGAIN!?

Hashtag's serve a purpose and that's how Stricklin uses them. They are not meant to be your whole social media entry.

Yes, #spellingpolice....aka smartass remark. Don't take it personal, just seemed to fit at the time. Carry on and ignore me in the future, I'm harmless
