Serious question: Can somebody explain to me the marketing reasoning behind the hashtag stuff? I'm not criticizing, I just don't understand it. And I'm an avid twitter user. Check my twitter feed dozens of times a day.
Is it for people that are on the web while watching the game and they can search #hailstate and see all the tweets about the game? Or is it to get non-fans to look up the hashtag on twitter and see good things about MSU? Or is it about trying to get a trending topic on twitter? I seriously don't know the marketing benefits behind this.
And don't say it's just something unique. We could just as easily put "Hail State" or "Snow Bowl '12" without the hashtag.
