Brando tweets that Mullen to Miami makes sense "to get out of State's situation with Newton allegations." Why do they continually try to pin this on us?

Putting on our absurdity and bass-ackward beanies here, wouldn't these "allegations" also intertwine with Mullen too? You think Miami wants to get involved in that, too?

If Mullen went to Miami (which I'm betting he won't), sCam allegations would not even enter the discussions.

You may now remove your absurdity beanies.

I think most of us believe deep down that keeping Mullen as he resurrects the MSU program is going to a challenge. He's pulling us up faster than most of us expected.

I'm thinking we need get just a little more more mileage out of him than two years. We need to get re-established as a Top 25 so another young coach on the rise can step in and build his resume or be the one that comes to stay and be successful for a long while.
I'm tired of witnessing programs being "jet jobs" -- and then falling flat on their face or -- worse -- landing on probation. I certainly hope that this does not happen to us.

tells me there is no paper trail at Auburn to find, but that a State alum (Rogers) is neck deep in this and the Auburn people are thinking that the remaining investigation is primarily of our handling of the situation. Including the fact that we continued recruiting Cam after his dad and Rogers made their pitch. <div>I sure as hell hope they are wrong.</div>

because the Auburn people I know are being very, very quiet. The only thing I have heard is that there was pay-for-play but that the NCAA couldn't have caught it. It all comes down to what the FBI has. MSU may have broken a rule by meeting with Rodgers, by not reporting the second it happened and continuing to recruit Cam but all of that is minor. The NCAA has never gone after the team that turned a major violation in and has never even gone after a team involved that didn't get the player. Worst case scenario we get a slap on the wrist. The investigation is entirely about Auburn at this point.

So why is the FBI involved?
We didn't offer, but we still recruited him(according to Mississippi Black Bears we got outbid), but turned ourselves in?
They wanted $180k for him to come to State, but went to Auburn for a scholly?
Jean Cheatzik was 5-19 in the lesser division of the Big 12, yet has run the table in the SEC and we are supposed to believe this is all above board?

1. My buddy is not a big booster, but in his work he deals with big Auburn boosters and that's where he gets his info<div>2. I agree with all your logic, but...</div><div>3. The pundits and tv people seem to think we are more involved in this than is apparent in what's been released so far. The Mississippi state department, FBI, and NCAA investigations are not disclosed yet, so we are just guessing based on incomplete information.</div>

My brother-in-law is an Auburn grad and was in town for Thanksgiving. He actually still lives in Auburn. He thinks we are in trouble because "Rogers is a MSU booster." Just goes to show how oblivious they are to teh facts. Similar to the najority of the national media. Rogers solicited us. We did not pay him. The fact that he went to MSU is irrelevant. It amazes me how national media types like Brando dont even know the facts that are out there. Forget trying to connect the dots. They dont even understand the basics. All he has to do is read the ESPN articles to get an understnding of the basics.

Mullen to Miami would shock me. They have not been relevant for a long time. 3rd bananna in your own state in a conference that is struggling to be a player. I think Michigan will feel out Harbaugh. If they can get him they make the move. Mullen to Michigan is silly. Looks like the SECs main jobs are safe this year. I don't see Georgia firing Richt.

The FBI could care less about rumors of Cecil Newton asking for cash. They will let the NCAA handle that. But if this casino was letting players, players parents (Cecil), and government officials win money on rigged machines, then that's why they are investigating this. This is only my speculation. If any of this does turn out to be legit, it will be a long time before we have answers, and Auburn will be in deep doo-doo!

that was a state judge. He said the Milton McGregor and rigged machines is very, very old news in Alabama.

If parents/players were also getting the benefit of the rigged betting machines, the FBI is going to have that information, just like they have the information on the politicians who were benefitting from the rigged machines.

It's just a matter of time now...</p>ETA: This friend is from Montgomery, went to Vanderbilt, but has beenand still is a die-hard Auburn fan. He's admitted that he's scared shitless of thisand will not be an Auburn fan if in fact they did what is rumored to have been done.

this is where the hammer will come from, and what they provide from their end....the FBI kicked this whole thing off and the NCAA had to wait on them

without full concurrence from Dan Mullen. And given that why in the world would Coach Mullen want to run from it? If DM had wanted us to we could have sat on this solicitation and never reported it to anyone.

a player who has solicited extra benefits from you. You do technically have to report it but I doubt the NCAA mandates an exact timetable. I certainly don't think 30 to 45 days would be considered too long. It takes a certain amount of time to gather the facts and documentation before you going filing something like this with the league office.

EVERY story that has come out CLEARLY shows that Rogers was representing the interests of the Newton family and in NO WAY was a representative of MSU. Probably the first time Kenny Rogers had even dealt with anyone at MSU for more than 20 years. And the connection between Rogers and the Newtons was established when Cam went off to JUCO NOT when the MSU recruitment started.

As more and more details emerge, the more it appears the hammer of the
NCAA could potentially come down on Mississippi State. Auburn and Cam
Newton are not under investigation, but Mississippi State is. Mullen
might think about leaving to get out from under the dark cloud of the
situation and potentially leave before the program is punished, a la
Pete Carroll.
I honestly don't know what to say. The word retarded comes to mind.

Miami (FL): One source close to the situation has just
told us that Miami (FL) athletic director Kirby Hocutt wants to find
outin the next day or twoif Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen is
interested in the position. Mullen, from what we've been told, is not
necessarily the leading candidate or two. We've just been told that
Hocutt wants to know if Mullen would be interested.

have been able to unearth "details" that nobody else can get. Haven't seen ANY new details emerging lately that would in any way say we have something to worry about. Guess they know something noone else does.
