They won't have to win another game all year. They are a playoff lock now. Oh, and that corch of theirs is so handsome and cool.

Am i doing rabble fangirl right?
You don't watch much football do you. Yes, they've got a great shot with that easy schedule, but they still have some tough games left and anybody can beat anyone this year. Heck, they should've lost twice themselves already to two of the weakest teams in the conference. Long way to go .....

You wouldn’t swap places with them?
Yes but it's an expensive hobby. It's exciting and a feeling of accomplishment until you play one of the 3-4 real teams that bring your silly dreams back down to earth. A good season and good for the brand but don't kid yourself thinking you actually have a chance.

It's going to soon be like making the March madness sweet 16. Fun ride and all but you're still dealing with a huge financial loss and on the outside looking in at the top 3-4 actual contenders that outspent you.

They are in a very good position. No doubt. But you would have to say that about Missouri, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas, Alabama, and Georgia also. There is not room for 9 SEC teams in the playoffs. 4 is the most likely number. Maybe 5 depending on how the Big 10 plays out.

I think Ole Miss' biggest competition is Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, Texas, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. Counting Ole Miss, that is 7 teams competing for 4 or 5 spots. We will know a lot more after Ole Miss' next two games at Georgia and Oklahoma. If they win 1 of 2, there odds will be very very good. If they drop them both, it's going to probably end up coming down to how good that home win against LSU looks. If LSU turns it around and becomes a 10-2 team at the end, they'll have a good marquee win on their resume. But if LSU is a 9-3 or 8-4 team, and they have no other marquee wins, it's going to be tough to see how a 10-2 Ole Miss team with zero Top 15 wins gets into the playoff.

One thing's for sure. If you don't make the field of 12, you'll have no legitimate shot.
Just like Arizona State, Indiana, SMU and Boise State had totally legitmate shots last year. They made the field of 12, so they were LEGIT. Ole Miss is like Tenn last year. Better than the bottom 1/3 in the playoffs but not even in the discussion of the top 1/3. But don't tell the 12 fanbases that, they all believed they had a LEGIT shot.

I admit I never thought I would see them built up to the point they are a contender for the playoff every year. They don’t rebuild it just seems they reload. It sucks and I don’t like it.

Unless they just totally screw up they'll make it. They've got a good team regardless of what our fans may wish for.

We do too - we could be 5-0 right now with a good snap on the FG last night. Expectation last night was that we had no realistic chance, but we would have won with the exception of a couple plays (usually how it is).

Hopefully the tough loss last night doesn't take the sails out of the team for next week.

when their schedule gets tougher starting next year, they’ll be an 8-9 win team. So it’s not every year.

Lane did a better job in the portal this past year than he's done in any year since he's been there. Whoever he has evaluating talent for potential transfer targets deserves a huge raise. They had 5 returning starters coming back off of their whole team from last year and he's reloaded and got them in a great position this year. He's also kicked our a$$ in high school recruiting the last four years and that depth (and our lack of it) is now showing. They're a good team. He won't be there forever, but they have plenty to be proud of right now.

Making the field of 12 and having a legitimate shot at the natty are two very different things
Making the playoff in the SEC is a huge accomplishment. Between us & UM combined there maybe 3-4 teams in the last 60 years that would make the playoffs in the current format. And I’m being generous.

the irony is the 2024 team that didn’t make it, could’ve made a deeper run than this one that will.
It’s funny how that is sometimes. It can be kind of random which team gets the job done & which one falls just short. We’ve had better baseball teams than our national championship team. Tennessee never won a title with Payton Manning. Then wins one the year after he’s gone. All you can do is consistently build a team that can contend.

LSU will finish with 3 losses, perhaps even 4. Look at who they have played and beaten thus far. I don't see how someone can objectively think they are/were a Top 5 team. Ole Miss has a decent shot based on their schedule, but I'm not convinced they are good enough to beat OU and Georgia on the road.

I would agree with the 4 team playoff. But 12 teams? It's great but it's not what it once was. Arizona State, SMU, Indiana, Boise State got in last year. Getting to the final 4 teams and then to the championship game is a huge accomplishment. But I still go by the fact that all is forgotten unless you win it all. Who has a legitimate chance to do that this year?

It’s a lot easier to get in from those conferences than from the SEC. A LOT easier. And I can guaran-damn-tee you a playoff team from Mississippi (State, UM or USM) would not be forgotten for the next 20 years minimum.

Their QB is legit and makes them so much better, how in the hell does that happen. I think we have a shot at them.

LSU needs to fire their o-coordinator today. Their offense is loaded and they can't move the ball.

Well after watching Clemson demise and watching LSU offense you had to know that Ole Miss had a really good chance of winning. Ole Miss is still the team that almost lost to Arkansas and struggled with Kentucky. Two worst teams in the SEC. They will lose at least three games.

The do it by always having elite qb play. The Chambliss kid has looked great - better than any qb we’ve had since Dak easily and I can’t imagine they paid much for him.

Lane just has a great eye for it apparently.
