Right now I’d have OM losing in Norman and Athens, but after that we are probably the team with the best chance to beat them.
I think this happens too. The only way they are left out is if the Committee looks at SoS for all contenders and they come in 13th or 14th again.

I admit I never thought I would see them built up to the point they are a contender for the playoff every year. They don’t rebuild it just seems they reload. It sucks and I don’t like it.
Their Collective is one of the top 10. They are investing and that is all that matters. Buy a Championship is the name of the game. Pony up or shut up. Personally, I don't really care about the NC anymore. It is just purchased.

The do it by always having elite qb play. The Chambliss kid has looked great - better than any qb we’ve had since Dak easily and I can’t imagine they paid much for him.

Lane just has a great eye for it apparently.
I don’t even think Lane really knew what he was getting there. I think he just got lucky. He didn’t even think this guy was his best qb. Took 2 games of struggling plus an injury for him to get him on the field.

Look, I hate those bastards as much as anybody, but they’ve got the inside track on a playoff berth. I don’t think they’ll lose to both OU and Georgia, I think they’ll split those games.

I am fully on board with State possibly being the most improved team in the country. The Egg Bowl will have some juice, especially if OM is 10-1 and State is 6-5 at that point, which is my prediction.

I would disagree on them splitting those. But none the less, one can only hope they don’t. Those ******* would be even more insufferable than they already are.

Just like Arizona State, Indiana, SMU and Boise State had totally legitmate shots last year. They made the field of 12, so they were LEGIT. Ole Miss is like Tenn last year. Better than the bottom 1/3 in the playoffs but not even in the discussion of the top 1/3. But don't tell the 12 fanbases that, they all believed they had a LEGIT shot.
Yes, they had legitimate shots.

Kiffin's a damn good coach and still young for a coach. Recruits like his brashness. Oxford is nice. Ole Miss has money.

I think we were all prepared for the disaster last year of them making the playoff while we were awful. They somehow fooled around and missed it with their best roster ever. But we were all bracing for them to be in with a chance to win it.

If they do make it this year, I mean it would suck but I think our fans have finally started to accept what they are under Kiffin. And a 12 team playoff just feels a little different. I mean don’t get me wrong, making the playoff is a great accomplishment. But something about last year watching Indiana and SMU and Boise State get run off the field made it feel like a more watered down accomplishment.

That’s kinda how I would view OM making it with a good but not great team and super friendly schedule.

I'm amazed at those of you that sit around worrying about what the hell that crew up there does from day to day. Why?

They've still got GA and OK on the road, relax. They have SC at home but that could set up like the KY loss last season. Worry about things you can control and kick those narcissistic azz holes out of your mind, its much more pleasant that way.

Two words, Georgia & Oklahoma (On The Road) with an honorable mention Mississippi State Bulldogs in Davis Wade Stadium.

Lane did a better job in the portal this past year than he's done in any year since he's been there. Whoever he has evaluating talent for potential transfer targets deserves a huge raise. They had 5 returning starters coming back off of their whole team from last year and he's reloaded and got them in a great position this year. He's also kicked our a$$ in high school recruiting the last four years and that depth (and our lack of it) is now showing. They're a good team. He won't be there forever, but they have plenty to be proud of right now.
That b/u qb find was, A FIND! The driving force to all their success right now. That was an excellent find by Lane & staff.

One of these days, you guys will realize that the playoffs are about keeping Lane around and not about Ole Miss.

Strength of schedule is going to be their undoing. If the following teams are all 10-2, which yes I know is HIGHLY unlikely and maybe even not possible but who gets in if it is possible?

Ole Miss
Texas
UGA
Mizzou
Bama
Oklahoma
Texas A&M

OM has the 6th or 7th SOS out of that group. They played no one in non con and their conference schedule is a joke. 10-2 won't get them in this year. IMO they have to get to Atlanta to assure a spot in the playoff. I also don't think they get to 10-2. I think they are 9-3. They're losing at UGA and at OU. And those games are back to back. What if they come home after that and lose to USCe? Highly unlikely as it may be, two consecutive losses would have the doubt really start to creep in.

This year's UM team reminds me of their 2023 team. A good team until they run into true a top 10 opponent. OK and UGA will be their two major tests; both are on the road. The game I see that could be scary for them is South Carolina. They'll be coming off their 2 hardest games and could be a trap game for them. The Egg Bowl will be 50-50 unless our injuries keep piling up.

Tennesee also has a strong chance to get to 10-2. If you had to pin me down today, Bama, Texas A&M, Tennesee, and the Georgia/Texas winner all look to have the inside track on 10-2 regular seasons. If Ole Miss loses to Georgia and Oklahoma, their hopes probably hinge on LSU. They need LSU to end up in that 10-2 cluster and give them a resume building win. If LSU is an 8-4 or worse team as they kind of look like, they may end the year with no real wins of note on their resume. There is a scenario where our loss to Tennessee ends up putting Tennesee into the CFP instead of Ole Miss.

If I had to say right now, at this moment, the playoff teams are: Texas, UGA, Bama, and Tennessee. I think Bama and Texas end up meeting in Atlanta. That will put a 9-3 team in, which means there's a 10-2 team that gets left out. I think that will be OM.

I think Texas A&M’s position is quite strong. Undefeated now. Win in the non-conference over Notre Dame. Difficult games left look to include @LSU, @Mizzou, Texas. If they beat us and SC at home, and they can go 1-2 in that tough stretch, they are 10-2 with a win over Notre Dame plus the 1 big SEC win of those 3 big ones. That’s a CFP resume for sure.

And they are the wildcard for sure. I just won't believe A&M is anything other than 8-4 until I see it. LSU is also going to be another monster at home. That crowd is a tad bit different than going on the road to Notre Dame.

Their SOS is close to 70. If they finish 10-2 with losses to uga and OU, they’re not getting in. They will probably not have one conference win over a team that is over 0.500.
