7 losing records in conference the last 9 years...

and this is also the 1st year with the new bats- making pitching more dominant this season- especially when you are facing 1st round talent

Vandy has agreat team but lets not act like we were playing Yankees or something. Our threebetters in the fourth inning lasted a whopping 3 minutes. Two pop ups and then swinging at three straight strikes. That is some awful hitting and discipline at the plate. Cohen has done a good job recruiting but his coaching has been M.I.A. since he left Kentucky.

last year vs UCLA and Oklahoma we had like 20k's in those 2 games... we are at least making contact...

we are a better team than last year.

don't be hopping on the bandwagon after we get it together. this team will be fine. and cohen is a damn good coach and has us heading the right way. 2 tough games against the best team in the nation on the road. today's game was competitive. 2-0 into the 7th. I had hoped we'd swing the bat better today. Friday was a very bad game against one of the top pitchers in college baseball. I'm not giving up hope for tomorrow, but even a sweep will not temper my spirits. Let's see what we do against a team that is in our galaxy. Vandy is not....and is on the road to make matters worse. We need to start out 3-6 or 4-7 in league play. you can't expect this team to win road series quite yet, but we need 2 of 3 against auburn. 2-7 will be a bad start, and at that point I'll start to get a little disappointed, but that's not going to happen hopefully.

Unbelievably bad luck there, because I think your pitching is good enough to get you through some games. But damn.</p>

how some seem to think that since we're playing Vandy that we should have never showed up. They're good. I get that. They're ranked high, very high in the polls actually. However, to not score a single run isn't all about the opponent. It's also a lack of execution on our part. Hell, we can't even get close to 3rd base. Yes, they're pitching is good and yes they will be drafted very high but some here want to convince us that we just faced Nolan Ryan and we should have never bothered getting off the bus. Our lineup is not good top to bottom and Cohen has only himself to blame for some questionable recruiting moves just as Todd noted earlier. Taking chances on Juco's in college baseball is not wise. They're either gonna get drafted out of Juco or they weren't stout enough to cut the mustard to begin with and that's how they ended up Juco in the first place.

Cohen is getting paid a handsome some. He better figure out how quickly how to get into "Vandy's galaxy" or he'll be toast.

they struggle to score a run in a 3 game series...

Cohen is the 2nd highest paid baseball coach in the SEC... only LSU's coach makes about 20k more...

Cohen is getting more support from the fans (our attendence, while less than in the past, is still in the top tier...but those other teams actually win SEC baseball games) than his pitiful record deserves and is gettng paid like he's a national championship contender..

.... he's getting treated like a winner and he has not been one with MSU.... I don't give a flying 17 what he did at ky or anyplace else anymore....

there are plenty of solid coaches that would give their left nut to come make 600K in the SEC...

it's time to tell Cohen that you've got this year and MAYBE next or it's your ***....

Which is exactly why the "Vandy is in another galaxy" comment is so stupid.

..if you don't follow baseball, then don't stir the **** by asking a baseball question.

That like me saying: Are the protests in Wisconsin due to budgetary matters exclusively, or is Gov. Walker merely using the state budget argument as a excuse to bust the unions?

Glad I don't follow politics!

saying Cohen should get any more than this year and next to prove his worth. If we can't get to an SEC tournament and into a regional by at least next year then I think everyone is pretty much in agreement its time to move in another direction.

were serious enough about going back to their winning ways in football (firing Charlie Weiss and Rich Rodrigez).

Baseball at MSU is part of us. No one gave 2 ***** about college baseball before 1990. Now everyone south of the Mason-Dixon line does. I watched some of the Florida/LSU highlights, and you would have thought the Florida pitchers won the World Series striking out LSU in the 9th.

It probably would have been easier for Cohen to rebuild this program in the past, with no one caring, but now........

One day, we will get back to this:
