Have you ever attended a HS game just to see a specific player? Dylan Harper for example.

Did you pay a couple bucks for a ticket?
If not, would you have paid some money for a ticket?

If the answer is yes, then Dylan’s NIL had value to the entity hosting the game/event.
Harpers name generated by revenue for them.

Just proving a real life example for all the “players NIL has no value” arguments.

Did you look up articles on the game or read the box score?
Generating clicks for the website - which leads to ad revenue.

If TKR posts two articles - background on Caleb and background on Hyatt.

Do you read both? Maybe only read Caleb's? Why they are both the same school?

If Caleb's NIL drives more traffic that is value to TKR.

Yes - February 2003 - Was working in Trenton at the time and went to the Trenton Arena to see LeBron James High School team play a team from Los Angeles. The place was sold out. Just an amazing performance from James. I think he had 50 points and dominated the whole game - you knew you were watching a special player

I was there too, with my son. LeBron was truly a man among boys, it was ridiculous. A few years before that we also went to see Dahntay Jones play at his high school (Steinert) in Hamilton, after he committed to Rutgers.

Chris Simms. First time I saw the what an NFL arm looks like on the field against players whose arms weren’t much better than any of ours.

I don’t think this really makes sense. What you wrote here is an argument for teams paying players directly. It’s not an argument for boosters who are not getting any extra revenue that might be generated to pay.

Obviously there are situations where a true, bona fide endorsement deal with a college player would make sense but that is not what most of these NIL deals seem to be. They are just people paying because they want the team they root for to win.

I was there too. Trevor Ariza was on the California team and trying to guard James. He did have a few air balls if I remember correctly, but definitely a dominating performance.

Nearly every high school game -especially to tournaments-lose money. Maintaining, cleaning, insurance, heating the gym, ref’s, bus drivers… by this logic Gav , Dylan should PAY money Negative NIL because larger crowds also require police and parking attendants.

NIL is a terrible thing. I’d be for some sort of benefit shared between all D1 players equally. This system is far worse than the old corrupt system. It really just sanctions the old corruption.

I saw Lebron the year before in Trenton when he played against Oak Hill with Carmelo Anthony. Quite a battle.

I watch on YouTube. Does NIL now pertain to HS? Guess I need to drop down to watching pee-wee.

Yep paid to see Harper at Kean this year. $20 bucks a seat.

Last year went to Newton Conover NC HS to see Chyna Cornwall who is the RU women’s team center and was NC Gatorade player. Ticket was maybe $5 bucks at the door like all HS games

I went to go see Brian Cushing of Bergen Catholic play St Joes in football. He absolutely dominated. Since I hate St Joes as a BC alum, it was glorious.

Yes. I've gone to a ton of RC games as I'm an alum....but my daughter and I have gone to Boscoe to see DH. Went to Camden-RC TofC championship so she could see the other 2 of her favorite 3. Her 3 favs are Dylan, Simeon W & D Wagner. Also watched a ton of great summer league action at Peak where she plays

My uncle had a bar in Perth Amboy. His daughter/my cousin was a cheerleader in the same class year as Brian Taylor. Uncle Mickey rented a bus which filled with supporters to travel to Atlantic City for the Group IV title game vs. Neptune. This was 1968, Taylors junior year. Perth Amboy won by 2.
I was three years younger so I played against Blake that same year in a middle school tournament. Schull School of Perth Amboy destroyed us.
The basketball courts at Washington Park in Perth Amboy were refurbished and named for Taylor.
My uncles bar was adjacent to the park on Brace Ave.
They built this strange new type of restaurant on New Brunswick Ave. across the street from Washington Park and the Perth Amboy Vocational High School. Called it McDonalds.
Many fond memories of the Perth Amboy of my youth.

Pretty sure it was 1977. I went to Linden to see them play Bloomfield with Kelly Tripucka
Tried to get in but it was sold out. Even looked for open windows to sneak in, lol. Our coach let us out of practice early so we could go see the game.

At least a 100 times, all over the state for basketball, football and baseball. Pride myself in predicting which kids have D1 written all over them or just hype. The true D1 or in the case of HS baseball will be high draft picks seem to have the field tilted towards them as they stand out that much more over everyone else.
