Chris is going to see some relentless pressure with Bosa and company. With either straight drop backs or him scrambling you figure he is going to get hit pretty good in this game, and even if he is not injured but just shaken up for a down or two, I believe Hayden may see action on some very significant down and distance situations. So whatever we can do to coach him up for that situation and get him on the field quickly with the play calls.

Now this is of course true in every game, but I have a feeling the chances tomorrow night are going to come. Obviously not looking for Chris to be injured. I like what he has done, and am rooting for him.

Totally agree. Especially if we are going bombs away and holding the ball for big plays. Will be nice to have such a solid option.

After watching the RU pass blocking this season, I would suggest that Rescigno be ready as well.
Bosa is an animal.

our lack of experience throwing rush-reducing screens and swing passes may be a big problem in this game.

I think we will need to pass to open up the run, and that we'll need to avoid the max protection schemes that will allow OSU to blitz from very tight formations. We will be under too much pressure UNLESS we can punish them for blitzing.

And since they have shutdown corners, and we haven't shown am ability to hit receivers on timing patterns in single coverage (like MSU did to us).. that means we have to hit passes to non-WRs.. flex backs, RBs, TEs.. and that means they shouldn't be in max protection, blocking. We need them getting open and punishing LBs for blitzing and not covering.

Laviano will have to make these reads BEFORE the snap and he and his intended target need to make the same read. He has a bunch of starts, all the 1st team snaps in practice.. no excuses for being out of sync at this point.

That's what I will be looking for. That is what I expect a competent offense should be ready to do. If I see us try to mandate that "we are a running team" to an OSU defense stacked against the run... well, Flood will have lost all benefit of the doubt as to his abilities. Such a plan would signal to me that Flood is not trying to win.. he's just trying to lose by as little as possible.

I agree. Its not out of the realm of possibility they give Laviano the Michael Brewer treatment (see Vtech vs OSU)

Hayden needs to be ready to rock. Some Fridge-style screens would serve us well against the pressure.

Was thinking other than injury situation. If get down a few scores you might need a gunslinger.

Last week's comeback was two picks, punt miscue, some good runs and a few agudosi passes. Not a qb led comeback but a situational one.

Either way don't see Flood doing it, or in fact considering it. Not a commnet on his decision making but just an earnest belief.

He threw for nearly 400 yards, he had a big impact.

Hayden won't be available tomorrow, she's suffering from postpartum depression. I'll settle for her father, Coach Yoast, saying "All right, now, I don't want them to gain *another yard!* * You blitz... all... night!* If they cross the line of scrimmage, I'm gonna take every last one of you out! You make sure they remember, *forever*, the night they played the Titans! "
