I don't understand why LSU doesn't realize

that LM is why you are not going to the NC. He's horrible as a head coach. Great motivator but terrible game manager and play caller.

I truley believe that LSU has the best team in the country..... Find a reason to get rid of the grass eater.

Funny. They've managed to win as many national championships with Les Miles as they did with Nick Saban or Paul Dietzel. Miles is an excellent coach. He does make some in-game decisions that are headscratchers, but he makes a lot of genius decisions too.

You're right,
Les Miles = Genius

What was I thinking.

You weren't thinking. Les Miles has won a lot of big games with his agressive playcalling and trick plays. And there's no coach in the country whose team fights as hard when it gets down. They've won a lot of games that most other coaches would have lost.

You said it right there. The team fights hard and they win in spite of their coach.

Why do they fight so hard? I believe I addressed that in my op by giving him credit for being a great motivator. I just think he puts his team in situations they should never be in with his "agressive playcalling and trick plays".

Their players fight hard BECAUSE of Les Miles. Saying they win in spite of him is just asinine.

I agree. He's like Houston Nutt to me......

He always has his guys ready to play ball. And the fact that he's at LSU ensures he gets talent, plus he benefited from LSU being a de facto power after Sabear left. Miles won Nutt style at Oklahoma State.

He makes stupid calls but his players are always in position to make plays due to the confidence he inspires. Have to give him credit for the good just like the bad. If he'd stick to the motivational part of it, and let his coordinators make all the decisions, he'd be unstoppable.

People seem to forget the host of retarded decisions he made during 2008 - 2010 when his talent wasn't good enough to bail him out. Clock management anyone?

Part of being a great coach is being a great leader. Great leaders have players that are under them that play hard no matter what. Les Miles is a great leader. Obviously I would be wrong in saying that I haven't questioned some of Miles's tactical decisions but he has consistently produced a winner. It's very difficult to go undefeated in the SEC. Last year was the best Tiger football team in history. Bar none, and I credit that to Miles's leadership, his ability to recruit, and his ability to overcome obstacles that some of the players create due to poor discipline. He's a great coach. Do I think Saban is better? Yes, I do. But that's not to say that Les Miles isn't a great coach. Miles was the spark that got Ok. State going before he came to LSU. He has a decent track record. And obviously he's entertaining. Which is what football is about as a spectator.

Absolutely he is a great leader......

That's my point. Get rid of the idiotic game day decisions and he is probably the best in the country. He's like the reciprocal of Croom on game days, so aggressive he's stupid.

Coaches inspire player confidence, some with gameplanning (Petrino) and some by motivation I guess. Miles obviously must be in the latter, like Nutt. I think they are very similar. Nutt just didn't have the same talent.

I think Miles is a good strategist actually. He plays power football and field position with the occasional trickery. I think the trickery went to his head a little against Alabama but I can live with that. I like the aggressive style of nature. Miles's football teams are grind it out and wear you down until the 4Q. That's when they typically step on your throat. He has screwed up time management at times but that doesn't mean he's not a good game planner and strategist. The Alabama game this year was evident of that.

Gravedigger, the vols were impressive against NC State.

Losing has a way of making a team lose confidence in themselves. They had a lack of leadership at the top. That's apparent. I was a Dooley fan and thought he would turn them around b/c he gave the perception that he led with discipline. UT was sloppy and turned the ball over way too much this year. They had no defense. The loss to Florida seemed to really expose Tennessee. They had UGA on the ropes as well. I actually got to watch the Vols a few times this year and was just surprised at how undisciplined that team is.

Keep in mind that NC State was a decent team as well. They upset Florida State and gave Clemson all they could handle. It wasn't as if Tennessee beat a nobody either. But much like Auburn, the wheels fell off in Knoxville.

These people will never be convinced. The fact is, everything you said is right. Les Miles does a good job overall with in-game management and play-calling. He absolutely outcoached Nick Saban in the regular season game in Tuscaloosa last year. And he outcoached Urban Meyer in that game in Baton Rouge a few years ago. But somehow, he's just a complete idiot that has no clue what he's doing and LSU is more successful than they've ever been in their history despite their idiot coach.

Say what ya want- but Perkins 2 TD's Saturday were straight from the LSU playbook. We installed the play they ran against us to score before halftime in Baton Rouge

The reason LSU gets top recruits is because it's LSU, not necessarily because of Les Miles.
LSU has lost games that they should have won because of one man.
If I were an LSU fan, I would expect to be in contention for a NC every year and if they weren't I would ask why?

Again, I gave the man credit for being a great motivator, and yes that is a big part of it. However, that's not really an asset that is hard to come by in a head coach.

Never said their playbook was lacking.
