Yep. I'd be surprised if it's not MCB or Belk. I think Tax slayer is a longshot. MCB probably more likely. The majority of sites predicting MCB. But hey, we are all guessing at this point. We'll know for sure in a few days.

I do not understand why so many want to go back to Nashville. I prefer Gator, then Belk of the 3. Assume the players would like to go the beach as well.

Agree. I would imagine that any fan not living close enough to drive to Nashville prefers something other than the same old bowl that we always go to.

Maybe I'm crazy but, assuming Alabama beats Florida, doesn't it look something like this?

CFP: Bama
Sugar: Auburn
Citrus: Florida

Outback: LSU
Taxslayer: A&M
Belk: Georgia
MCB: Tennessee
Liberty: UK
Heart of Texas: Arkansas

Independence: So Car
Birmingham: Vandy

My reasoning: Bama is obvious in CFP. Sugar takes the next best SEC team, and I think they take Auburn (though I guess could take LSU, wouldn't affect us). Citrus has to take a division winner if possible, so Florida can't drop lower than that. The next 6 are technically equal but I listed them in my personal opinion of relevance. I feel like those 6 teams (LSU, A&M, UGa, Ewe Tee, Cats, Ark) are clearly the next 6 choices, with USCe and Vandy the obvious last two choices. Outback is the "best" and will get LSU (or Auburn if Sugar takes LSU). I have it on some authority that Taxslayer wants an SEC-W team as they've had SEC-E teams of late. I think UGa and UT are ahead of us in the pecking order so I think they get Belk/MCB in some combination, leaving us with Liberty. Arkansas to Heart of Texas based on geography.

It's been mentioned, but I think the basketball game conflict with Belk hurts us, but I also don't see how we jump UGa or UT. We travel, but so do they.

I hope I'm wrong as I'd prefer Taxslayer, then Belk, then MCB over Liberty, but hard to see us getting picked ahead of any of the teams listed.

UT would travel to Charlotte a lot more than UK, I mean they have a tremendous fanbase in NC, SC and Va and they can be in Charlotte in 4 hours from Knoxville. UK is not going to travel to Charlotte. Not sure UT is going to burn the roads up in Nashville. They are pretty down here.
UK would put 25,000 in Jacksonville, probably put 30,35,000 in MCB and 10,000 in Charlotte.

I think your Right-On Real Deal 2, I hope it's the MCB if we can't get a Florida Bowl. That helps a lot of UK fans.

We haven't been to the MCB since Brooks last year. So I don't get why fans feel so entitled that they prefer another bowl. And the players don't give a crap about where they play. Post season play is all new to them. I'll be happy for whatever bowl they go to.

What exactly is the draw to Charlotte other than a 7 hour drive from many parts of Ky? Not being smart, I have never been and have no idea what it offers. I do like Nashville but agree that it is old hat. However, I will go for sure if it is there but not so sure about Charlotte based on the long drive. I get driving a long way to get somewhere sunny like the Gator, but Charlotte....not so much.

Take it for what it's worth, but Matt Jones said he's hearing that fans should book nonrefundable hotels in Nashville.

Are people in Jacksonville typically in the beach in late December? I mean it's warm there for winter compared to here or Nashville or Charlotte, but day time highs are just in the low 60s.

Bowl games are about bringing $$$ to the bowl game communities. UT to MCB wouldn't do much for the hotel/restaurant businesses because there would be a high number of locals attending...the same holds true for Memphis and the Liberty Bowl. IMHO they will send UT to Charlotte and flip a coin between UGA/UK going to MCB and Liberty.
I remind everyone that the way the selection process works is that the schools list their preferences from 1 - whatever, the bowls list their preferences and then they work to match them up. UK is going to look at ticket sales commitments and make their list by what makes sense. Bowl payouts matter too.
Bowl - payout (my guess)
Outback - $3.5M (LSU / A&M)
Heart of Tx - $3M (A&M / LSU)
Taxslayer - $2.75M (UT)
Music City - $2.75M (UK)
Belk - $1.7M (UGA)
Liberty - $1.4M (ARK)

No. My co-worker has a beachhouse south of Jax. He said the water was too cold to swim when they went down for Halloween.

I was just in Boca Raton last month for my honeymoon. No one was in the water. We stuck our feet in a little, but that was it.

Took my family to Tampa for the Outback bowl. We went to the beach a couple days before the game. Residents were wearing sweats and jackets. My kids were running in and out of the water. I guess it's a matter of perspective.

A few years ago, I met a couple from somewhere in Canada that said they went south to Philadelphia for the winter.

Not going for a swim, but low 60s in Jacksonville sounds a heck of a lot better than the weather we had in MCB when we played Clemson in 2009

If UK goes to the Liberty, MCB, Belk, or better, I'll be there w at least some of my kiddos.

Honestly, I think UK may end up looking even better in our bowl than we did yesterday. Another 3 weeks of practice for this group will be big - plus UK kids are seriously motivated heading to the game.

I was stationed in Jacksonville (Mayport) for several years. Definitely did not swim at the beach on the winter. I did like it down there. Lots of great times. Young and single back then.

Kentucky might like to use the Liberty bowl to continue commemorating the role the school played in integrating the SEC. There is always a trip to the MLK museum associated with that game.

Heart of TX may be a better bowl than I was giving it credit. Ark in Liberty does make sense as well.

Still think an SEC-W team goes to Jacksonville
