Hearing reports from Salem camp that the reports of a Salem falloff are greatly exaggerated

A bunch of good players are up in the air and one has, to my knowledge, been gone for some time. If they're able to get those kids back and going I don't see a terrible amount of dropoff. If they can't, it'll be a bit more iffy going forward.

Still a lot of good talent there, especially at WR and RB. Heard the lines will bully people hard this year as well. It's more about whether they can get some of their star players on the roster for fall or not.

Considering most of the starting defensive backfield will be returning and the OL should be a force to deal with (Cardwell and Mundy are both one year older and stronger).Don't forget about Tuck at receiver and fully capable underclassmen who have been waiting patiently for their turn... Salem will be just fine.

How is Ramsey looking? Haven't heard a word.
Our wait is almost over and a lot of our questions will be answered very soon. There is a lot of potential with this team, hopefully they can execute together and realize their potential. 7 Sr's will be 3 year starters. They've accomplished so much and hopefully they can be good leaders for the younger guys.

I know I am an outsider to the Salem program but I would be stunned if Salem wasn't a major factor this year in 4a. I am not sure if the "fall off talk" has been gamesmanship or genuine concern. Maybe a bit of both. It would take a catastrophy for them not to make the post season. We all know once they are at the dance they become a different team. Any reg season losses would just be flesh wounds

There were so many things that happened in the off season that could have affected this team. For a while some Salem fans sounded like Chicken Little. There are still some lingering questions about personnel and team chemistry. We'll all find out soon. I think the coaches will get everybody in gear. For those that don't they better be looking over their shoulder because somebody is just waiting in the wings.

I would agree, some concern and a little gamesmanship. Also I would agree that Salem seems to be able to peak in the playoffs. If Salem is able to put all it's weapons on the field with the right attitude, they could be formidable indeed. However, if that is not possible they will still be good and will improve as the season progresses.

Who are those 7 3-year staters, Mike? Just curious.

Jv team has lost 1 game in past ? Years (Five or 6 I think). What I find interesting about that is there seem to be three or four sophomores on the varsity each year but the jv continues to win

Are all these guys confirmed back for the season?
I've only heard Ramsey is back, can't confirm. Quinn, Tucker, Wade, and Owen participated at the most recent 7v7. Mundy cracked a bone in the same foot he broke last year. He wore a boot for a month and I believe is good to go. Craft has been practicing his kicks all offseason and I assume is back. We'll find out in less than a week for sure.

Some of those kids could play both ways. Tucker wr and db, Ramsey running back and de, Nick wade db wr or qb. That's a lot of experience on the field

Also, I recall the JV team was 10-0 last year, but do you know what the 8th grade team's record was? Haven't the 8th grade teams been dominant, as well?
On the old Salem football site they used to have the 8th grade records, unfortunately it's gone. I'm not positive but I don't think they have lost more than a game or two in any recent season. It seems like when they do lose it's by a point. The system is tried and true.

Ramsey is a load... If he is back and in a grove that changes things drastically. Ball control offense is very hard to overcome especially when you have a powerful 210lb tailback.

210. Fast, quick, big vertical. Country strong, good vision, and tough as nails. We will see if he's back. If he is I'm sure the coaches will have made sure his attitude is in the right place

I know the upcoming juniors have lost one game since 8th grade (2 games if they played on Varsity last year)

They will be as long as they have Coach Mag.

Salem will have enough weapons Ramsey or no Ramsey. The big question mark will be qb play. I do hope the defense shows up earlier this year. It will be needed while qb develops

Is The JV QB (Gladden I think) projected starter? Or did Nick Wade go into the off season preparing to be QB? We need Wade on O and D so hope Gladden gets the nod(if he's ready)
