I played against Chatt-Baylor in basketball back in the early 70's. I was 6'4" and played PF and our center was 6'5". We had to go up against a Baylor lineup of a 6'11" center (who the whole UGA staff was in attendance to see) and I drew the assignment of guarding their 6'8" PF. I actually did pretty well against him, but their big center ate our lunch. We lost by 20, which IMO, wasn't too bad actually. Baylor and McCallie could pretty much get any decent athlete they wanted if they really wanted him. My best game that year was vs MUS in Memphis where I scored 16 pts. in the first half. They double teamed me in the 2nd half and I scored 2 pts. They had a legendary basketball coach that knew how to adjust. Think his last name was Peters. Anyway, McCallie, Baylor, and MUS could pretty much beat any equivalent-sized public school in Tennessee and surrounding areas they played.
