He will again. Enjoy the 17ing win . And these ******** comparisions of Kodi to Dontae Jones are just that...********! Tae was the National Juco POY. In New Orleans @ SEC tournament he put the team on his shoulders and took them to the Final Four. Rick found him, recruited him, did what it took to get him out of NECC, did what it took to get him in State, and kept Richard from running Tae off. So if we had a talent like that, you better believe Rick would be playing him. Sorry folks, Kodi ain't even close. As the old saying goes, Rick has forgotten more about basketball than all of us collectively will ever know.

RW stayed on Dontaes *** all season publicly about him shooting the ball too much. Dontae got tired of his **** and did what he wanted during the SEC tourney and through the dance.

Was at every home game but 3 in 96. Went to New Orleans & EVERY NCAA game including Final 4 in the Meadowlands. And 1991,1995,2002,2004,etc. Leaving for Tampa in the AM. Richard, Rick, and Kirby have all been guests in my home. I've traveled with the team on their charters. You might say that I am kinda close to the program. So why don't you shut the hell up, until you figure out something you might know a little bit about.

He literally did whatever he wanted to do. I think he would have had a good NBA career if he didn't mess up his ankle. He could jump out of the gym before that.

I made all but four games in 96, so you got me there. I've been to all the NCAA games, even in the 60s, so I've got you there. Not going to Tampa but I have been to many past SEC tournaments. Call that one even. Rick, Kirby, Phil, and Greg Carter have all used my cabin in the mountains. Phil also used my beach house (one of them). No way I would let that butthole Richard Williams stay in any of my numerous homes. I kept telling Larry, Donald and Malcolm we had to get rid of him. Thank goodness they finally listened to me. They wanted to hire a higher profile coach when Richard left, but I told them it was over my dead body. On their budget the only type coaches they could attract were washed up ones looking for one last check or D-II head coaches. The big school assistants wouldn't give them the time of day. I told Jimmy Sexton it would be the last thing he ever did if he presented them a candidate so he backed down. The team actually traveled with me on some of my charters because I get nicer planes. There's plenty of room, so I don't charge them for it. Isaac, Noah and Ezekial love the plane. They've all "flown it" for awhile (haha - it was on autopilot).

This is the first time I've read the board since watching the game. During the game, what Kodi was doing reminded me of Dontae Jones. Now, they are very different players with different talents and bodies, but the "Kodi factor" and the "Dontae factor" are where the comparisons are:

1. Unique skill set than any other player on team -- inside and outside games, inside/outside bodies and athletic ability, more than capable defender and rebounder when effort given, ability to put team on his back (Kodi still has alot to prove, but I feel he can do this in spurts)

2. Can be the X-factor in a postseason run ---- that added dimension

3. Supreme confidence -- can't be underestimated. This rubs off on teammates.

There is just no other player on our team right now that can make the multi-dimensional impact Kodi can. The same could be said for Dontae in 1994. If we win some big, big games coming up, I say Kodi will probably be the MVP or Co-MVP of those games. If we lose these games, I bet Kodi was probably more of a non-factor. I hate to say it with such an inexperienced player, but our fate may rely on how big a factor Kodi is.

Stans couldn't help the fact Boswell liked to smoke weed. You can only suspend someone for so long.
Tang? I don't understand why he is listed?
Robert Jackson- liked to run down the court slowly with his finger in the air after he scored. It made it easier to get fast break points since he would be at midcourt while his man scored.
Both Delks wanted to dictate how much playing time they would get.
Hans had to do what his daddy said or get kicked in the ******.

Walter sharpe - I am pretty sure noone blames Stans for Sharpe not being on the team. Hell, he couldn't even make it on time to leave for games. I am pretty sure his pic is beside the definition of 17 up.

Gary Ervin had a different philosophy of the offensive gameplan than Stans and didn't want to run that offense.

Houston and Augustus I think have the same problem. Don't like to play D.

Charles Rhodes was a total 17 up to begin with as well as Turner. Both turned out to be good players and Turner seems to be the vocal leader on the team currently.

I dont think there is as much problem with the way Stans treats the players when they get here. I think it is more the players we are getting dont have a team first attitude (excluding Hansborough). That does fall back on Stans for recruiting players and thinking he can change them. That is pretty much what Kodi's AAU coach said. Stans knew when he signed him that he was a primadonna Ahole.

...is because he was prima donna that gave ****** effort and totally failed to fulfill his potential. He sulked his whole career here and the coaches couldn't get enough out of him.

Excuses, excuses, excuses. It's funny how there's an excuse for everybody. Meanwhile, other coaches successfully deal with players with egos, weed problems, overzealous daddies, and different philosophies. We just can't.

I am not a Stans hater like some, but if it's fair to point out all the good he has done, it's also fair to point out how his program management has crippled us, especially lately. And anybody that acts like he can "handle problem players" has their absolute head in the sand.

Our problem is the players with attitudes seem to be starters and some of our better players. Tang had a good career but not what he was hyped. I think it all eventually falls on Stans shoulders whether it is a problem working with the team or just recruiting someone like that in the first place. I have heard that Stans treats some people on his team different than others such as Jamont not getting pulled. I think this year it seems to be Randy although he isn't the calibur player that normally gets preferential treatment. He is average.

Can you please give some examples of other coaches that successfully deal with players with egos, weed problems, overzealous daddies, and different philosophies? I'm assuming that since you are a State fan you see the issues that we have had to deal with here, but I would also assume that you have no idea about the issues other coaches have had with problem players. And for the record, I agree that the transfer **** is getting old, but I think it has also been shown before that all schools deal with transfer issues these days.

How about every coach in America? We all recruit from the same high schools, the same AAU teams, etc. Everybody gets their proportionate share of thugs, prima donnas, lazy players, etc. The difference is that other coaches are able to mold them into great players, or at least see them graduate without leaving and crippling the APR. Sorry, but it's just completely idiotic to think that at MSU, we are the only school that has to deal with these types of kids. Nobody else gets recruits selfish players or players whose Dads think they aren't being used properly or players that don't want to play defense or players that don't want to pass. Poor ol' MSU.

Everybody gets players like that. Stansbury just can't handle them.

And the "everybody has transfers" argument is as tired and pointless as they get. Everybody has transfer, but nobody has as many impact player transfers as we do. That's been stated many times over.

No, I'm not kidding. So you're examples are every coach except Stans? Surely you can come up with some coaches that have had problems with players but molded them into superstars or whatever rather than having them transfer or drop out or whatever. I mean you don't think that you just know more about what goes on with State because you are a State fan right? And like I stated before, I think it sucks, losing the Delks was terrible, losing Hans was bad also, but every coach at every school has to deal with stuff like this. We might have a few more than most, but I think you would find that all coaches have to deal with this kind of thing, and it's becoming more of a problem every year across the country. If you disagree, give me some examples instead of just saying, "you've got to be kidding, how about every coach in America". Otherwise I might be inclined to think that you don't have any idea of what you are talking about.

Can you back that claim up with some real data? I keep seeing things like this, but I've never seen any data to back it up.

....it's on you. Show me a program that loses starters and impact players on a successful team at the rate we do. You can't. It's not there.

And my point is an obvious one. We recruit from the same high schools, AAU teams, and jucos. Is it your position that we are just unlucky? That State gets all the bad apples and the other teams don't? No, obviously, every team gets its share of character guys, prima donna, selfish players, etc. It's just that we can't seem to handle them. Or we haven't been able to lately.

Actually no, my point is that you don't know as much about what other coaches deal with regarding bad apple players. You know about ours because you are a State fan and follow our team closely. I'm assuming you don't follow other teams very closely and don't know about the problems that other coaches have. Ask a Virginia Tech fan if they agree with the way Stans handled Richard Delk. Ask a Tennessee fan if they agree with the way Stans handled Reggie Delk. Do you think these players leaving is national news? Do anyone besides State fans and maybe some SEC west school fans give two ***** who transfers when and where from State? They wouldn't know jack about our issues just like you don't know jack about anyone else's issues.

....two points and I'm done:

1) It's a safe assumption that almost every other team has their share of bad apple guys that come into their programs.

2) It's a safe assumption that almost no other team loses as many starters and impact players to transfer.

It doesn't matter that I don't know about the individual issues of other teams. I know the kids that come into their programs, by and large, are just like the kids that come into ours. Some of them hustle, some don't. Some are coachable, some aren't. Therefore, other teams deal with the same kind of players that we do, and other teams do it more successfully.

I really don't see how that can be argued.

I don't see how you can make your argument just the same. You are basically saying that Stans has had plenty of bad apples to deal with and alot of them have ended up leaving the program in some way, this of course can't be argued. At the same time you say that Stans is the worst at dealing with players and having players leave. Yet you don't have anything to compare him to, you are just stating that he is the worst at dealing with players and having players leave. Shirley you can see that you're just stating that as your opinion since you don't really know this and don't have anything to base this on.
