Regarding Tiger, I simply cannot understand why people cheer for a guy who while at his apex treated his wife like dirt, didn't sign autographs for fans, shunned the media and used shady doctors linked to MLB. Tiger became "nice" when everything fell apart and no one was paying attention anymore. His treatment of people is well documented & I saw it first hand at US Open in Bethpage. Tiger's demise was self-inflicted, not an injury or illness comeback like CBS was portraying. He drives rating that's the reason.
Why not root for the new breed like Spieth, Rory, Day, Rickie etc...?
That’s what they say about me, minus the first partGreat golfer, zero as a person.
I can understand anybody having a personal problem with another person and feeling like they can’t forgive them or can’t “support” them in any way. But bottom line is Tiger is good for golf, so a lot of people are going to be excited about him for that reason alone. They aren’t going to really care about any of his “transgressions”.Regarding Tiger, I simply cannot understand why people cheer for a guy who while at his apex treated his wife like dirt, didn't sign autographs for fans, shunned the media and used shady doctors linked to MLB. Duke, I truly appreciate buddy. You and the other guys I met are stand up and I hope the rest of the crew coming in Oct can live up to you guys. I had a blast hanging out.His smile and energy is infectious. There is ~100% chance @retiredsoldier is a good human being in real life.
retiredsoldier said everybody was cool except that dude that goes by QC. He was weird as heck and seems like his time was more valuable than the rest of us. I hope that guy doesn't show up this time lmbo. J/K buddy.I met soldier at CTC last fall. Can’t stand him..........
I kid.....great dude!!!! See ya in October RS
Good post. All people qualify for forgiveness....not just certain one's.
Like I said, Tiger was certainly a lot of those things. And I think a lot of people here have been willing to acknowledge that, as well. As to his demise being self-inflicted....part of it surely was, no argument there. His injuries weren't made up, though.
Just like it would take a lot of blind love to feel Tiger got a fair shake, it takes a lot of blind hate to believe the things you said.

Let's agree to disagree, Tiger was not fan friendly one bit at his apex so people jumping up and down at Augusta just looked very foolish to me. Spieth sigining tons of autographs for kids at PGA two years ago is the guy I'm rooting for.
Good post.
Did you end up getting to watch it live?
No, my younger wild years.
I don’t like Tiger at all, but I ain’t holding his past against him. I forgave him. Nobodys perfect, and I’ve had my share of mistakes, it just wasn’t public, untill I made it, cause I don’t give a damn!!!!! I’m reborn!!! Lol![]()

Terrific post! Great moment for GOLF, YES! FOR SPORTS, YES! But pull for Tiger?? NEVER.... OFC
Agreed. We can pick apart a ton of athletes or politicians if we want, but if they’re on our side we will look past it or make excuses for them. In this situation it should be looked at- a guy that was at the lowest of lows on and off the course and he came back and won it against the best field ever. It’s as impressive as any moment I’ve seen.I'm one of those "I'm only gonna tune in if Tiger is in contention" fans. Yeah, I know, lame. However, I watched all 6 hours yesterday and it was wonderful.
The moment after Tiger won was something else, truly a special moment.
Being upset that a famous professional athlete was unfaithful to his wife is like being upset that the grass is green, just my opinion.

I guess it's worth repeating, but nobody is saying you can't root against Tiger or have your own opinion of him. Nobody has disrespected that opinion at all. But you started this whole thing by saying that you can't understand why people do like him or why he gets the attention he gets. That is where I take issue. I have followed Tiger his entire career and I have lived and died by each moment of his. Just as I do for Duke basketball. I have the ability to compartmentalize his professional achievements and his personal life decisions. I don't blame you not wanting to. But you have to at least be able to see why people do. You may not agree with it, but you see why people do.
In sum:
Me: I like Tiger, but I understand that some people don't.
You: You do not like Tiger and you don't understand why people do.
Seeing the other point being made is how discussions can be had.
You are:Me thinks race may be playing a wee bit of a factor for the “OFC” brigade
Mods I respect your views, I really do, but show the other side a little respect for their own views. Just my opinion, but Laettner, Mac, QC and a few others out here just dont care for Tiger. Sorry, not sorry...
Explain how you'r views weren't respected again. I'm confused.
Here's my deal with Tiger....I was never a fan back in the day. I'm not really one today....but I definitely caught myself pulling for him all weekend. He seems to have made some changes in his life. On the surface, he comes across as a better person than he did 10 and 20 years ago. Is it all an act? Entirely possible....my personality lends itself to giving him/others the benefit of the doubt, because that's what I try to do with people. Sometimes it will get us all burned. Plus, Tiger moves the needle and it's good for golf.....and I like golf.
