So, my daughter was out at the Refuge tonight and hit a deer on her way back to campus. Her car (Nissan Rogue) is still drivable for short trips around town, but needs to be fixed before Spring Break.

Does anyone have recommendations for a body shop in or near Starkville?

Based on the pictures I’ve seen, there doesn’t appear to be any damage to the frame, it looks like it’s just the front bumper, grille, and maybe some damage to the wheel well on the passenger side.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When a tree rudely hit my truck I took it to Waltman Body Shop on Stark Rd and they did good work for me.

If there’s no frame-damage there’s a 96% chance you can do 100% of it yourself / herself.

I hit a Vulture north of Nashville doing 80ish (both parties incurred losses). Had to replace bumper cover, grill, fog light, and a 17ng blinker. Couldn’t believe all the damn pre-painted parts online now (ebay - Autopart89). Every part I got was a spot-on match and fit. And the damn bumper (no runs or thin spots….was silver) was a dead-nuts match. just had to give em my paint code. Can’t imagine you having a prob finding these parts as popular as the Rogue is…..hell, I was in an 06 vw bug.

Also, If it’s on the front/rear of a car and made of plastic/rubber….Amazon has it. Make sure you use your garage feature to ensure a correct match (amazon nailed every part I got). This is a great teaching moment. She'll hate you at first, but that's why we exist.

My daughter hit a deer on 45 near Artesia driving back up to campus after Thanksgiving. State Farm gave me options sorted by highest reviewed that included Waltmon, Joe Hudson, and Cannon Ford. The guy who towed it highly recommended Waltmon.

They ended up totaling it, so I can’t give any first hand account. But I will say that I had it taken to Cannon before they totaled it. And the reason was that after calling them all - both Waltmon and Joe Hudson said they wouldn’t be able to get to it until Feb-Mar and Cannon told me their timeframe was more like 1st of the year. Keep in mind that this was the end of November. The backlog at them all might be a lot less now, but you should be prepared that it might be a minute…

Don't know where your home town is, but when someone hit our daughter while in school, we drove up and traded cars with her and brought the car back to Brandon. Had it fixed local, my wife drove the rental until the work was done. Based on your description, not sure if that is even an option though.

Yeah, we live in Houston (not MS) so it would be a bit of a haul to go swap cars. Plus, not sure if I want to drive it 9 hours back based on the pictures I've seen.

DANG! I didn't even think about there possibly being that big of a backlog.

Mike Latham Body Shop. The place is not as impressive as the others mentioned, but he does good, honest work. Not sure if you are using insurance or out of pocket, but if out of pocket, well be very surprised with his prices compared to the others.

Just talked to Mike. Turns out he's retiring and not taking any new work.

Call around. I hit a deer in mid December and then we hit one in a different vehicle on Christmas Eve. Called the Insurance immediately and they said to go to Waltman but his earliest appointment (which I got) is this coming Monday and my wife's vehicle will be going in on the 23rd. He said they are seeing a ton of deer related issues and are backed up

Yeah, I called several places around town. Waltmon said their earliest opening is mid-March now.
