Near the end of the game, he was commenting on the creativity of the offensive game plan and noted that it was "different from who they want to be."

It begs the question: should we change who we want to be?

It's a small sample size, but the last time we ran something similar to this offense was the bowl game and we rolled offensively in that game as well. If who want to be gets shut out, but you can score 63 by being something you don't want to be, maybe you need to adjust.

Maybe there's a reason they feel the offense we ran against UT could not be successful week-in and week-out, but from a limited sample size, it's way better than the alternative.

I think when we get the opportunity to play against one of the worst defenses in the nation we should take advantage of it.

We certainly didn't take advantage of anything against a worse defense when we played UF.

He's right though. This is probably not he offense Beamer and Satt want to run. But you have to do what you can if you intend to win games. Before the UT game I told my buddy we'd lose out and Beamer had done just enough to get by. To say I'm pleasantly surprised ins the understatement of the year. Now understand, defenses will adapt to whatever offense you play. UT was caught completely off guard and were down 14 pts before they could begin to adjust. clemson has more tape to look at and their defense is better than UT's.

Yeah, the Clemson D will be an entirely different beast. Much tougher sledding for sure.

The play calling was just so much more creative. Notably, we didn't run a failed play over and over again. UT, for their part never was able to adjust. We scored 21 in the first and 21 in the fourth.

I'll tell you another thing that was different. Our WRs blocked.

That is true. We were also faster on the edges. There were a number of plays where, in previous games, we'd have been tackled for a loss, but we managed big gains against UT.

From the stands it looked like the plays were similar to previous games....just more creativity in when they called certain plays and mixed them up a good bit. Me and the gentleman that sits beside me were also discussing how much faster they were playing and making decisions....it was if the staff had taken all the variations out of the pro-style offense and went more basic simply going with the play as it was called without worrying about the QB and the OLine having to read what the defense is doing and adjust to it. The team looked less confused and a lot more confident in what they were doing. It was a very simple pro-style offense with a bit of wildcat thrown in at times to keep the defense on its heels. It was a very well planned and called game. Wish we had been doing it all year long....as we easily could have had another win or two. .

They got 'em off quicker, too.

Looking at the tater's defensive back end the basic game plan should be the same. I agree about the defensive front so some new wrinkles will need to be added.
