I think it's hard for a lot of fans to concede that he earned anything from last season when the only reason that he was still around in the first place is that our admin was not prepared to pay his buyout in '23. Furthermore, while I agree that no reasonable fan should ever expect a coach to be fired following last season's result, having to travel to someone else's regional and getting knocked out is never going to be considered any kind of success for this program. The only reason that it's viewed as anything remotely good is due to the depths that Lemonis had sunk too during the prior two years.
All that said, I do agree that there's not much point in moaning and groaning now. All we can do is let the season play out
I agree with most of this and thanks for a sensible response.
Look, I'm not the least bit happy with what happened the two years following the NC. It was completely unacceptable.
If we had not been improved in almost every category last season and a good (not great) team, I'd have been completely in the fire him camp. But we were better and are better and not far from a typical MSU quality team.
And I've been around long enough to see lots of coaches come and go at MSU. It's always a crapshoot. I'm going to give the guy who won his *** off his first 3 seasons and got us our first and only meaningful (to the fan base) national championship a long leash.
And again, I'm fine with folks who disagree and wanted him gone. But he's here and all this constant bitching about the HC means absolutely nothing in the middle of a season. It's not interesting and it brings nothing worthwhile to the board.
And I'm just a big enough A-hole and idiot to say so.
