Yes, I am known to talk a bit O smack from time to time. With that, I can (reluctantly) admit when I'm wrong... Yes, even ME, MrJHamm, can slip on predictions - after all, these are high school kids.

With that behind me, and looking ahead to another fun week of high school football, I believe the game of the week is in 3a. SR @ LB should be a knock out, drag out brawl! Two teams that like to pride themselves on physicality (I'd argue LB, based on what I've seen, is WAY more physical than SR).

Look for a close game initially with the power and gusto of LB to wear down SR in the end. This game has some serious bad blood.

Close game at first but LB pulling away late and Coach Harless sticking it to Coach Poston for the last laugh:

Chucky just fyi....SR's defense is not going to hold LB to 13 points. If SR does not score 35-40 points they are going to get beat. I feel LB has a chip on shoulder and will win this game big. I think LB is too big and strong. I have to go LB 49 SR 21. I am just not impressed with the wing. It might have worked last year but it looks finesse this year(I guess based on the personnel they have on o line?) and i feel teams are catching up with the scheme. I just don't feel SR is physical enough. I know it was a scrimmage but heritage d line was working over SR. I know this will make SR homers mad but my honest opinion is SR does not stand a chance.

Guess we should just take that last statement with a grain of salt since you gave EC Glass the same chances against Heritage

EC Glass played well. I give credit, when credit is due. I could care less who wins between SR and LB this Friday. I just feel LB is tougher and more physical team. Neither one of these teams will be in the state championship game. Mark my word.

I had Heritage as the front runner coming out of C and D, but the loss does show everyone else that they can be brought down, maybe even by a lesser opponent. I still have them winning C but not as confident now that they'll get to the championship. SR and LB are both very good and I can see either of them beating Heritage. Neither will be easy as you seem to think.

I don't think LB can line up and run all over heritage and don't think they are athletic enough to shut down heritage's offense. On the other hand if we played SR, they can put up points but they do not play d. In my opinion Heritage is still the most complete team.

I'm going Staunton River 45-21. I'm a firm believer that LB is over rated just yet. I see pioneer says SR doesn't play D.... wait and watch!

I know it does not matter but SR fans are the only ones that think SR will win. Look at the week 6 pick'em on 4a board. I am not alone thinking LB will win this game.

I've looked at it. It's fairly balanced as it should be. I think it's two evenly matched teams. But we shall see.

You are aware LB beat Blacksburg a few weeks ago aren't you? The defending 3A champs who just last week absolutely hammered Salem.

I haven't seen them this year. But they have evidently done well. A quality win over Blacksburg. Not sure if they were missing key player's vs Western Albemarle and Rockbridge or if WA and Rockbridge have improved that much..Oh and they beat Harrisonburg too. 28-7 I believe. I'm excited for it. We'll no more about both teams after this one.

Would love to be at this game. I'm giving the edge to LB but Overstreet might elevate his game and that could swing the deal.

While Overstreet gets a lot of attention and deservedly so. This team has a few others that can hurt you as well. TJ Tester, Kalip Jones, Brock Porter, Sam Kirtley, Antonio Dumeyers all have that ability to damage.

Who are you saying beat Salem besides Dinwiddie and Blacksburg? Salem doesn't have LB or SR on their schedule.

SR and LB should be a good game and regardless of outcome it will be a game to be factored in when evaluating the strengths of a lot of teams. Always risky putting too much stock in the outcome of any single game because so many things can yield an unusual result. These are high school kids and lots of extraneous things can effect focus and pregame preparation that will have a bearing on the game outcome. Blacksburg got a nice win over Salem last week which speaks well for them and Botetourt has received lots of credit for beating the Bruins earlier in the season, however, both games are single data points better considered in the context of all available results. Anybody think LB much more than Blacksburg benefitted from the weather conditions and the style of play it created that night? None of this is intended to take away from the big wins of both Blacksburg and LB earlier in the season but, as a cautionary reminder to not get too enamored with single game results and their relevance to future predictions without at least considering the possibility there could be other significant factors contributing to an unexpected outcome.
