if it is the Music City Bowl:

"First of all, we are proud of the players for earning the right to go to a bowl game, and we are excited for them and the coaches that have worked so hard for this accomplishment. That said, it is a shame that they were not awarded the bowl that they deserved to go to, and we are disappointed in the SEC, the Outback Bowl, the Chik-Fil-A Bowl, and the Gator Bowl for making the gross error of choosing inferior teams over a team that truly deserved to be there, and earned the right to play in a better bowl."

Sincerely, Dan and the grasshopper.

Edit: Vandy was tied for 5th in the SEC (4-4) when they went in 2008 and UK was tied for #6 in 2006. Auburn was tied for 6th in 2003 with a 5-3 SEC record. At 4-4 we're actually #6 behind AU, Ark, LSU, Bama, and USC, so we're not the highest SEC team to go to the MCB.

I think they know that they aren't as good as the Peach. Just like the Peach knows that it's not as good as the Sugar. Just like Matt Damon knows I'm better looking than him. It's just the truth.

Screw them all.

You don't stab the bowl that did take you in the back during the press conference announcing your acceptance. You talk about how excited you are to be playing in such a fine bowl. Not saying we shouldn't make it clear we're pissed if that does happen, just that that's not the time or the place for it.

One thing I do wonder is whether the uncertainty about whether Dan Mullen would be coaching in the bowl game might not be causing the Outback/CFA/Gator to have second thoughts about taking us.

We are proud to go to a fantastic bowl that appreciates the excitement of the MSU fanbase that has the largest increase in ticket sales this year with 7 consecutive sellouts. I kills me to think that teams that don't even have a winning record will go over us (6-6).

Because you are right- that's not the time and place to do it. But that's why you do it then. It makes a statement. It gets attention. It says that we believe we're better, and we're not going to settle and be the SEC's lap dog. It puts the onus on the other bowls.

They would be talking about it on ESPN- "Man, did you see what Dan Mullen just said" and then they start talking about it, and it brings attention to it, and things hopefully change.

And besides, what is the Music City Bowl going to do? Pull their bid and give it to a Sun Belt team? They need us more than we need them.
