Here's my question and I apologize if it's already been discussed.

Assuming the offensive staff is let go in some form or fashion...who in his right mind would sign on as offensive coordinator or any offensive coaching position here? After reviewing the depth chart for next year and the thinness of the ice surrounding Croom, they would obviously be staring at a one year gig. And do those guys get 2 year contracts on top of the ones we just paid off? And then when Croom is fired next year, we still have to pay off the new offensive coaches? It looks to me like we only have 2 options..fire everybody or keep everybody.

We're screwed any way we go.

1) We do nothing - Worst possible option for too many reasons to mention. Basically, this does nothing more than set the program back yet another year

2) We keep Croom but fire a large portion of his staff - This really does us no good because we have to buyout the assistants that get canned, no one with any decent reputation will come here knowing that Croom is on his way out, and worst of all, Croom will still be here.

2) We clean house - My favorite option, but this does mean that some major $$$ will have to be raised for buyouts and we will probably lose a few recruits. That said, those things represent the price you pay to make changes, and God knows we need some changes.

So all in all, there's really not a great option out there for us and for that I'd like to say one last time, THANKS LARRY!!! You suck in so many ways

on more than one occasion...changing OC's won't work...there's not one out there who would be worth hiring..if there's one out of work, then why would we want him? If there's one who's "up and coming"...he ain't coming here. The only one who would come here would be an old washed up one who wants a quick paycheck or one who is unproven and nobody else wants....in short, we seem to be screwed. Only answer is a wholesale firing on the offensive side, at least.

Boys and girls do you like losing, really losing? I knew you did.

Athletic Director Byrne could insist that MSU dismiss Reed and Woody and others then we could hire more incompetent coaches then we could fire the whole Cluster 17 next year.

Boys and girls can say 2003 all over? I knew you could

Now boys and girls look at term grown ups use, its called lame duck. It means: <p style="margin: 0.4em 0px 0.5em; line-height: 1.5em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: -webkit-sans-serif; font-size: 13px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 19px; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;"> an elected official who is approaching the end of his tenure, and especially an official whose successor has already been elected.</span></p> <p style="margin: 0.4em 0px 0.5em; line-height: 1.5em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: -webkit-sans-serif; font-size: 13px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 19px; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;"> The status can be due to</span></p> <ul style="margin: 0.3em 0px 0px 1.5em; padding: 0px; line-height: 1.5em; list-style-type: square; list-style-image: url(http://en.wikipedia.org/skins-1.5/monobook/bullet.gif);"> [*]<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: -webkit-sans-serif; font-size: 13px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 19px; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;"> having lost a re-election bid</span> [*]<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: -webkit-sans-serif; font-size: 13px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 19px; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;"> choosing not to seek another term at the expiration of the current term</span> [*]<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: -webkit-sans-serif; font-size: 13px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 19px; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;"> a<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>term limit<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>which keeps the official from running for that particular office again</span> [*]the abolishment of the office, which must nonetheless be served out until the end of the official's term.<span>[</span>1<span>]</span> [/list] <p style="margin: 0.4em 0px 0.5em; line-height: 1.5em;">Lame duck officials tend to have less political power, as other elected officials are less inclined to cooperate with them. However, lame ducks are also in the peculiar position of not facing the consequences of their actions in a subsequent election, giving them greater freedom to issue unpopular decisions or appointments</p> <p style="margin: 0.4em 0px 0.5em; line-height: 1.5em;">
</p> <p style="margin: 0.4em 0px 0.5em; line-height: 1.5em;">Those are big words, aren't they?</p> <p style="margin: 0.4em 0px 0.5em; line-height: 1.5em;">See boys and girls if we keep Coach Croom on now real good coach is going to want to work for our university, so we'll have to get bad coaches. Why you ask?</p> <p style="margin: 0.4em 0px 0.5em; line-height: 1.5em;">Well boys and girls that's because Coach Croom sucks. You know you shouldn't use that type of language but we need to right here. Sucks means he's not very good at his job, many times you'll hear people say, "he sucks or that sucks" it means its really bad.</p> <p style="margin: 0.4em 0px 0.5em; line-height: 1.5em;">
</p> <p style="margin: 0.4em 0px 0.5em; line-height: 1.5em;">Boys and girls, Coach Croom is a good man-he's a Christian. Can you say Christian? That means believer is the risen Christ. But see, good men can be bad coaches and bad men can be good coaches, and vice versa.</p> <p style="margin: 0.4em 0px 0.5em; line-height: 1.5em;">
</p> <p style="margin: 0.4em 0px 0.5em; line-height: 1.5em;">See boys and girls we need a good coach then a good man. You see, if we find one and rally around him and he gets good players-we'll be victorious more than now. Can you say victorius, I knew you could

a. Fire Croom or
b. Let him keep Mcorvey and drown next year.

Hiring a new Offensive staff that would legitimately give us any hope will be impossible in this situation.

keep the staff as it is. I don't like it but the fact is, it's gonna pretty much be impossible for us to win more than 5 games next year...whoever the coach is. We will obviously save a ton of money by waiting to fire him and the staff after the '09 season. Meanwhile, we pray that some of these sought after commitments stick with Croom and are molded by the new coach in 2010.

.....are not going to be good next year, no matter who is coaching, and any OC that's worth a damn would be NUTS to take a job he'll likely only have for one year. As you said, we either keep 'em all or we fire 'em all.
