I turned it off when they got to the questions. It was posted on Nafoom, and after reading the comments I had to see what it was about.
I watched him bumble through his opening statements. He stammered through sentences and forced himself to use his nickname for us a few times (even giving us The University of $+@@#+%%@#%%+%#@@%% once), and then he seemed to have a huge weight lifted off his shoulders when he finally got around to asking for questions. It's a good thing that being good at press conferences has nothing to do with being a good football coach, because it was painful to watch for the couple minutes I watched. He seemed to settle down when answering the first question, and that's when I decided I wasn't going to waste 30+ minutes listening to Q&A about your linebacker class, Dylan Favre, or whatever else the media wanted to ask. I'm assuming the nickname business wasn't brought up during Q&A, because I'm sure most of the questions were about specific players and things like that.

Maybe you accidentally watched Kiffin's first press conference at UT or something. This wasn't a booster speech or pep rally, it was talk in front of bunch of guys looking for quotes to put into today's paper.
Also, if that nickname thing bothers you, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. BTW, shouldn't you be critiquing Les Miles' press conferences?

The nickname thing doesn't bother me one bit. I see it as a form of flattery. He obviously thinks we're important if he's going to give us a nickname. By the way, I was saying that I just thought the nickname seemed forced in that press conference, like it wasn't rolling off his tongue and he was having to work to remember to say it that way.

The guy was porn in Pennsylvania and grew up in New Hampshire. Do you think he actually had a hatred for anything Ole Miss until Byrne wrote him a check?
The !%+@ thing started with Woody Hayes. Who actually was born and raised in Ohio and actually hated Michigan. Mullen does it to appease the eggbowl.com part of the fanbase, but lets not pretend its not forced.

We never had more schools talk about our head coach when O was our head coach, and I really don't think anyone was scared of O. People talked about him because he did things that generated conversation. Talking about putting a fence around Memphis or building a team with mostly MS players are things that are going to spark conversation. Nothing more, nothing less.
I am interested to see if you can compete for the SEC championship by signing mostly MS players.

Ole Miss is the only team who tries to make fun of him. It's comical though, because even they don't believe their own lies. That beatdown in November put the fear of Jesus back in them.

The reason the rest of the SEC isn't making fun of him is because he isn't referring to Bama as the TSOE or AU as the TSDSE or LSU as the TSOW. If he was, Im sure they would be making comments about it. Mullen has targeted OM therefore the only people responding are the people he is talking about.
O went after everyone. He talked about taking the best players from AL and LA, and he was a joke.Sure he had some closes losses, but they were still losses, and his comments were viewed as a guy trying to get attention for attention sakes.
I think most people thinkMullen did a good job at MSU this past year, and nothing I said above had anything to do with his coaching ability, he showed me that he can coach, especially on the OL. I was commenting that his comments about OM and how its clearly forced as opposed to genuine hatred. I really think Jackie hated OM, same with Brewere hating MSU, but if Nutt started some type of the school beneath us crap, it would be forced.</p>
