I thought the Ds game plan was pretty good. Thought our DL did a good job making him throw from the pocket.

Those guys are going to score 35 points. Throw in 3 or 4 special teams screw up, and a turnover and they're at 50.

Yep 2 more than their average per game. How many did Bama give up? 42? We gave them too many on busted coverages but I thought the defense at times showed flashes against the most potent offense in the league. They haven't scored less than 40 since Bama last year.

The safety & the ensuing short field, and the short field after Dak's int. That's 16 points. The difference between them scoring 35 and 51.

And don't forget the short field after the KO return that wouldn't been a TD if the guy hadn't flipped into the end zone. Only had to go 18 yards for the score. Damn, thinking back on it, we really gave them the game. We had every opportunity to win it and **** the bed (again).

we deserve this ****. excuses instead of results seems to be the new trend. i mean...we gave the most prolific offense in the history of mankind ONLY 537 yards. the sad part is, we dont even know what the 17 a decent defense looks like anymore and its more and more apparent after each apologetic post.

17ing sad day for each and every state fan. a day where 51 points and 500+ yards was celebrated. yall should all be 17ing sick.

There are plenty of things to criticize about this game, but the defense did fine. Some individual players made some mistakes in the secondary, but Manziel and his ability to scramble puts so much pressure on them its unbelievable. Take away a kick return and giving them a short field a couple of times, and we hold them below what some other good teams have.

i dont doubt what you just said for a single second. it took me .00004543 seconds to process the fact that you in particular were somewhat sympathetic to any struggles we display whatsoever despite this being year 5 of this shitshow.

the disgusting fact is the defense (regardless of what the score was} gave up 5 entire fields worth of yards (ball starting at the goal-line) with a MINIMUM of 5 entire 100 yard drives with regard to the box score). does **** happen from time to time? sure.....17 yeah....from time to time, we get reamed when the **** ends up on the wrong end of the stick and the 17ing cards dont fall right....does it keep happening on a consistent basis to defenses worth a 17? (and by worth a 17, i dont mean teams ranging anywhere from 40-120 in total defense)...i argue no. Georgia's ****** defensive line coach gave up an assload more yards, but held atm to only 38 points with an immeasurably superior receiving corp and offensive line. we keep accepting this level of mediocrity and yall will be diappointed.

look, if you disagree with me and think our defense was more than adequate, thats fine....i dont disrespect that opinion. i do however, disrespect these wild and totally unsubstantiated claims by some that the defense did enough and that the blame should lie somewhere else. great job defense....we held jff to just ABOVE his average. wtf have we done where this defensive result is acceptable?. either what we did is acceptable or, it is not. if you disagree with my statements, please first explain why giving up over 500 yards is acceptable, then clarify why what part you disagree with. last time i checked, we were getting *** raped. explain to me how i am wrong, otherwise, stfu. i dont want any nonspecific ******** that tiptoes around the obvious. since when is 500+ yards acceptable? im all ears. they had 3 very athletic and skilled players we had to account ofr......THREE.......lets enjoy this spin cycle that is surely about to ensue.

Well I don't think Saban excepted given up 628 yards but they did. Or the 587 yards UM gave up. Or the 602 yards given up by Auburn. Or 558 yards by Vandy. Do you see a pattern here? At some point you have to acknowledge that they are that good. Do we want to give up that many points or yards? No. But it's not like they don't do it against everybody.

your right....the defense held their side of the bargain. the offense should have scored 52 on one of the worst defenses in the sec.

wake the 17 up.

best case scenario, yall are supporting a coach that consistently gets raped. there is always an excuse. sp teams, defense, offense....whatever fits the bill. i totally, 100% agree that the offense sucks *** at times....it doesnt mean the defense isnt sucking *** too. we have a plethora of problems on both sides of the ball and somewhere north of 50% of it is mental. where does the buck stop when it keeps changing every single game? at some point, it goes back to the coaches....unless you are on our board, where its just the randomness of life that keeps us down or from realizing our capability.

you know what guys....im going to go totally in the other direction you expected on this post. dan merlinz is an offensive genius and geoff collins has just had some really tough luck. its just a matter of time before these two pull their heads out of their asses and the team turns things around in a powerful and significant way. collins is clearly a victim of circumstance and only has about 10 4* or better players at his disposal. i get it...**** happens. things will eventually self-correct. **** is about to spring for our benefit and these fools dont even see it coming.

i have previously gone full retard, but now, yall have made it exceedingly clear through comparisons to alabama, that we are on a clear course of total domination. i mean...we have competed with nearly everyone right? the numbers dont lie. we are on the precipice of turning a corner. its evident in the players demeanor, the confidence in each and every coach, and the level of skill we continue to field. at some point, things have to break in our favor.

i apologize for being such an idiot. things are clearly headed in the right direction.

Look there is plenty to criticize with this team and coaching but your reaching on this game. They played hard for 4 quarters. Nobody quit. Players or coaches. They scored 21 points in the 4th quarter so you cant jump on the lack of scoring in the second half. There are still problems but there is also progress. You refuse to see it because it doesn't fit your perception, agenda, whatever.

clearly, my agenda is for us to suck ***, because my expectations are unattainable.

look, i turned that corner all of us seemingly have. collins did a great job...so did dan, and sometimes, **** just happens. we are all in this leaky *** 5 year old boat together....but, if we keep shitting enough, we can plug these holes. its just a question of how much we can ****, and by my estimation, its a lot. **** sp teams....check, **** defense...check, **** offense....check.....my only question: once we have stopped all these holes with **** that we seemingly continue to excrete, what then? does the **** go overboard or do we allow our **** to continue to build up and sink the boat, cause last time i checked, our **** is reaching defcon 1.

Hey Smoa$$: You're delusional

I guess you forgot how JFF put up 700 yards on us on our own field last year.

JFF has played 10 games this season and Miss. State accounts for at least 25% of his sacks and INTs. I admit that those two categories are something that State doesn't do well. But even the casual observer saw that State got beat on deep passes, not on any sustained drives.

how many points did we give up last year? last time i checked, nobody has ever lost giving up yards.....they do however lose when the other team outscores them. wilson and his boatload of incompetence only gave up 38 points. somehow, we gave up 13 more points and everyone is patting collins on the back. what a 17ing joke.

how can wilson be an idiot while collins is a genius, or to quote one of our less eloquent fans, a "stud"?

its time to admit that collins is worse than wilson. there is certainly enough data to clearly and decisively prove that now....which begs the question, why did we fire a coach that wasnt very good only to hire someone that was bad to replace him? definite downgrade. if it all makes you feel better, that is all clearly dan's decision....and yet another bad decision he has made, but the facts are undeniable. we downgraded.

ypg surrendered: 64th
opponents yards per play: 91st
scoring defense: 77th

care to explain any of those? anyone proud of how that has gone? anybody have the warm-fuzzies about those numbers? i sure as 17 dont.

Further proving

that you're watching completely diff games then almost everyone.

Complaining of our D, week in and week out, as if it's the main culprit in us sucking is just dumb. To use AM as "exhibit A" really doesn't help, either. But hey, keep trying to convince everyone weekly that you're right.

Did A&M have to score more points to win? You probably weren't there so you didn't see how 2/3 of the stadium left at halftime. They left after A&M scored 24 points!!!!!!!! They scored ONLY 24 points at over 400 yards in the first half. They were on pace for 800 yards!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are correct. The other team wins when they OUTSCORE. If the offense doesn't outscore the WORST defense in the SEC, they won't win. One moment you talk about the score, then another moment you talk about the stats. You're a joke and prove it with every post!

well, which is it? am i waiting for the worst game of the season to make a point or am i complaining week in and week out? in two consecutive posts, you have stated i have done both...make up your 17ing mind.

we are giving up nearly 6 yards a play...not against texas a&m...that is an AVERAGE FOR THE SEASON. give the man a 17ing lifelong raise....be my guest, but its your 17ing funeral. we are the dumbest fans in the nation and it aint even 17ing close. 6 yards per play and everyone is giddy throwing up high-5's. SIX 17ING YARDS PER MOTHER 17ING PLAY YOU 17ING IDIOTS!!!

ARKANSAS is doing better than that. (5.8 vs 5.9)

its officially crazy time when nearly six yards per play is acceptable for msu defenses to give up. mind blowing actually. based on the general consensus of this board, im the only one that thinks being 91st in that category is abysmal....and for the most part, you are right in the fact that it has consistently been JUST me bitching about the defense. if you are NOT ok with those types of numbers, its time to speak up, it may truly be me....i just think all of yall being ok with this are a total disgrace to the program.

holy ****.....we are going from 5.5 yards per play surrendered to 5.9 yards per play surrendered in 2012 and all everyone is happy things are moving in the right direction?

totally dumbfounded by our fanbase....and its not a few outliers, either most of yall are too ***** to say something, or yall actually believe this is a better product. this is truly a first for me....shocked by our own stupidity. i cant even fathom the level of incompetence it would require to say that a team that is performing significantly worse in nearly every major and secondary defensive measure is somehow a better defense....wow....just wow....gear up for a lifelong full of mediocrity in the GOOD YEARS, because with fans like ours, who needs enemies? wilson's wife gets run off in the stands because her husband gave up 24 in a half while collins has a tinker tape parade in the works for giving up 21 in a single quarter. wilson gets the cold thump of a boot to the *** for having a defense that was 36th in ppg allowed while collins currenlty has our defense at 77th.

again, wilson sucked, but we are sending some VERY mixed and wildly contrary mixed signals. each of you have enough mental function to power on an electronic device and bumble your way onto this website, SURELY you have enought neuronal aptitude to comprehend how we are seemingly celebrating a SIGNIGICANTLY WORSE defense. i mean....RIGHT? is this some kind of beautiful practical joke to 17 with random people on the internet, cause if so, bravo....you got my *** GOOD.....please, tell me you people arent THIS stupid.

look, if you think that collins has had a tough draw, and you HOPE this year is an anomale...thats fine....but dont sit there in the tsunami of contrary statistics that say wilson > collins. im hoping that some of you, after reading this, can at least admit that it doesnt look good for our future under collins. throw me a freaking bone here people...somebody, step up and tell me that its not all rainbows and lollipops. its one thing to be lenient and soft-hearted and its another to be a lamb lead to the slaughter.

if you think im a joke, i must be doing something right. great job einstein....wilson gives up 38, collins gives up 51, collins > wilson.

its all clear to me now. how could i have been so stupid. i mean, wilson had the 36th best defense last year....here we are at 71st and its all gravy.

who is in line next for the lobotomy? i need to get in on the action cause im starting to feel left out.
