.......The only ridiculous partabout that whole interview session yesterdayare your articles today andlinking articles and video from the past to show that Mullen has talked about injuries in the past. You act like the interview session and Mullen's reaction was something scandalous or something your readers would really care about. Well, State fans care about Mississippi State football and Dan Mullen. You guys will get no sympathy. Now-a-days, you are insignificant. There are plenty of other sources to get information, stories on State football.

Lastly, consider yourselves lucky you even get the liberties to write, blog, and tweet what you do in your current position. Because in any other state, you would be a damn hand puppet for the Athletic department. The first time you got out of line too, over something this petty........you would be looking for a new job.

Seriously though, we have the only reporters that bad mouth the team they report on. Ole Miss's guys pimp their **** and build their program up in most interviews and columns, meanwhile our douchebags are always finding negative **** to key in on. No wonder Mullen acts that way towards them, look how they're acting the next day.

I listened to interviews with Marcello and then OM's guy on local radio the other day, and when it was over you would have thought OM was the program on the rise and raking in the croots. Pitiful.

the part where Mullen looks at an assistant and says something about "we have a policy, it should have been covered"

It's really sad how far the media has fallen. Once upon a time, they delivered the news and the facts. Then they started mixing in speculation and rumor and flat out making **** up. Then the complete lack of respect they showed Mullen at media days with his college town comments, they are making bush league sound good.

I'm perfectly fine with coach Mullen making the rules up as he goes along. For once we have a coach with some balls, and he is going intoyear 4 at this univ. Protect the players. They have bought in and are busting their *** for this staff. The status of the questionable players will be evident in the coming weeks.

I think he more than gives them enough to write in their blogs and ****.

...dogging Mullen. Basically calling him a liar. A lot of venom was being spewed. You don't have to be a homer but damn! As my granny would say..."Bless his heart."

start the interview with, "Coach Mullen... we are aware of you injury policy. Are Tobias and Nickoestill considered injured?"

If Coach Mullen says "yes" - then follow up with, "Who will be seeing the majority of their repetitions and what are your contingency plans for the season."

If Coach Mullen says "no" - then fire away.

Is journalism really this tough?

I may be reading to much into all of this but I thought it seemed that Marcello was trying to egg him on into a bigger reaction? It's all a bit ridiculous though, Chick-Fil-A and ****.

I hate the media here is one big propaganda machine for Bama and Auburn. While I never want it to be like that, there is a lot to be desired when it comes to the way State is covered. It was telling when the Auburn beat and alabama state media went into full attack mode on State during the cam newton fiasco. It seemed all of the State beat and Mississippi state media outlets went on vacation. I think State was "defended" more by the national media.

I don't understand why they wouldn't want to be more positive. The fanbase would be more inclined to buy their product if they were.

I've never seen him act like this before, and when I've interviewed him he was funny and sharp, better than most HCs about giving a decent quote now and then, too.<div>
</div><div>But that was some odd behavior.</div>

Just like Veazey was out to get us, right. Until he went to Ole Miss and he was out to get them. Until he got a better job for doing his job correctly. <div>
</div><div>Also, you can't ask if they are still injured. That is an injury question. I think Dan could have handled it better but he is probably trying to make it more clear for them to never do it again this year. He did it on the first day of the season for a reason, I bet. I'm fine with not knowing about injuries. If someone goes down against Jackson State, I don't want Auburn to know he is hurt. Fine by me. Keep it up, Dan. Keep it up, Brad and Brandon. Everyone keep doing what you're going. </div>

...sounds like little butt-hurt douches. So they made Mullen mad. Big 17ing deal. What is Mullen being paid? A 17 load more than the beat writers. Grow a pair and just brush them off if they ask a question you don't like. In short, be a pro Mullen.<div>
</div><div>They don't have to have an agenda to make Mullen look bad, all they have to do is show him throwing his little tantrum. He's not 17ing Nick Saban. He hasn't earned the right to be "above" the reporters.</div><div>
</div><div>I, too, live in Alabama and the last thing we want is to have a cheering section for media. That kind of atmosphere facilities horrendous like the one at Penn State. I'd rather have dispassionate truth than some sunshine pumper telling me how awesome we're going to be.</div>

I give the benefit of the doubt to coaches and players when mild overreactions like this happen because they're literally interviewed thousands of times a year. Everyone has bad days, I'm surprised coaches and players don't go off more often.

If the worst thing Mullen does is be a dick to a couple of douchebag reporters, I'm OK with that.

He knew the instant difference between a mountain and a molehill. If that video goes viral with him out of the room, essentially storming out, it's a much bigger deal and gets more play.<div>
</div><div>I was shocked mainly because Mullen is very, very media savvy. Brandon and Locke are WAY far from antagonistic. Beat writers can't be pricks because they're assigned solely to that school/team.</div><div>
</div><div>I'll ask Brandt about it, I heard his voice in the room. I think Dan just sort of knee-jerked it and knew it. No big deal.</div>

Yeah, it seems like Mullen was just stressed and agitated at the beginning of the interview, and combined with the fact that he probably thinks Locke and Marcello are douches, he had a moment where it boiled over. It was kind of awkward, and he probably realized it, made sure they understood it wouldn't happen again, and continued the interview. No big deal. Why they felt the need to include mention of it in their articles, I'm not real sure.

to how many times Dan had to go through this last year with explaining and telling them over and over about not talking about injuries, I guarandamntee you he knew going into the interview that he was going to do something like this to get their attention on the very first day and be done with it for the rest of the year. For all of the pricks who are bashing him for acting this way...and not knowing how many times he's addressed it in the past....they can kiss his *** too.<div>
</div><div>Like someone said above, these beat writers aren't going to get any sympathy from State fans with where Mullen has the program right now. </div>

Perhaps those two hacks (Locke & Marcello) paychecks correspond with their talent as sports writers? After all, why would you pay any decent money to guys who simply retweet others work and use their cell phones for video?

how did you defend Hootie when he spanked Neal McCready at the press conference last year. Hootie specifically went after Neal, Mullen was addressing it to the whole room, even if he was staring down Mutt and Jeff while he stated thepolicy.

...fans don't like their beat writers is because those guys don't really care who wins or loses. If our fanbase hates Marcello & Locke that tells me they are probably doing their job really well. But I liked Veazey and Sekou Smith but grew tired of Ellis. If I want a fan's opinion on the team I can just use my own. Give me dispassionate observation over sunshine pumping any day.

I don't read Locke so I can't speak to his talent or lack there of. Although he does look like a giant dipshit. As far as Marcello, he is not good at what he is trying to do. He pales in comparison to Smith, VZ, and Ian.

I think he got his feelings hurt when Diaz made him look stupid during one of the Gator Bowl interviews when he asked about giving up 30 points a game in our last three games. The fat *** got that one wrong cause OM only scored 23, as Diaz let him know. That shouldn't have been too hard to look up, you know being our most recent game and all.

Point is he has been taking backhanded shots at us from the start and he is not good at hiding it.

That video of him and that other fat 17n nerd from the CL from media days was the end for me. Those two dorks sitting there with jelly from the doughnuts in the corners of the mouths making fun of Mullen was ridiculous and unprofessional to say the least.

Bottom line, the guy sucks at being a beat writer. I liked VZ and thought he did his job pretty good. Marcello needs to find another career.
