How's your day going? Just think, next year the dirty whatevers are another year older and Sean Payton returns. Can you say rebuilding?

And aGAIN, Atlanta can't close the deal when it matters most. A defensive coordinator who thought it would be fun to blitz with :30 in the game instead of playing prevent while leaving Gonzalez wide open on two easy passes gave them a free pass last week.

Seattle not showing up for the first 30 minutes had more to do with it than playing prevent. Seattle outscored them 28-10 in the second half. San Fransicko only spotted them 17, then outscored them 28-7. This was Atlanta's best chance. Next year they are another year older and their division gets competitive again.

I agree with that, too, but regardless, Seattle had a 2 point lead with :30 on the clock and Atlanta on about their own 35 yardline and 2 timeouts (knowing there was a high probability they would have to use one to set up a FG). On the first play, Seattle brought 6 and the second play, they brought 5, and both left Tony G. wide open. All they had to do is drop back, rush 3, and cover routes 10+ yards and they didn't do that. I guess that was more my point.

To make matters worse for the dirty thugs, Sean Payton is back. Maybe they will have more playoff luck as a wildcard team on the road.

I understand your infantile chest beating, and debating someone with your kind of rapist wit ("San Fransicko!" lulz, it works on so many levels, because you're homophobic!") is analogous to wrestling a pig, but I wouldn't really chalk up Atlanta's year to "luck." I've talked to several NFL writers, including those who specifically cover the Saints, and they said that this year Payton would've swung one or two games, tops. That's 9-7, and depending on the games, still doesn't get you in the Playoffs.

Nor does Payton's absence change anything that happened to Atlanta this year. They split the season series and Brees was picked off five times in Atlanta (I was there, it was fun!), just as the Falcons offense came razor-close to winning in NOLA on the last drive, but couldn't, similar to Sunday.

As for the "old" comments, I'm not sure I understand your vantage point. Atlanta is old, but they're going to change out the old pieces. That's what NFL teams do. New Orleans is old in specific areas, too. They also dropped a ton of money on a two-down LB in Lofton that no one else, including Atlanta, wanted to give starter's money to. Go back and look at Gonzalez's TDs against NOLA, or go back and look at ANY third down conversion against NOLA that came in the middle passing lanes. He's a two-down 4-3 run stopper. He's awesome at it, but that's what he is, and a liability on third downs.

I think the Saints are improved next year, certainly. I think both Atlanta and New Orleans will finish with 9-11 wins each. I'm slowly growing to dread Carolina, as I'm sure y'all are as well.

I probably shouldn't have written this post, because you remind me so much of the Saints bandwagon periphery that ruin an otherwise fun rivalry filled with great fans on both sides. There's just something about your tone that just makes me sad.

You mention that several NFL writers think Payton would've swung one or two games. We are talking football, not writing. Nobody really knows what kind of effect it would have had on their record. That is pure speculation by a bunch of guys who have never played.

What is the thought around Atlanta on Thomas Dimitroff? I know you live in Atlanta and probably have the pulse of what is going on there. (Godfrey obviously lives in Georgia because he once sent out some scathing tweets saying that Mississippi and lower Alabama folks were ignorant rednecks for rooting for the Saints when they don't even live in Louisiana. Therefore, for Godfrey to root for the Falcons and not live in Georgia would be extremely hypocritical).

Yeah, but the Saints poor season, and Atlanta's good one, will mean the Falcons will play a much harder schedule than the Saints. On the other hand, N.O.s problem is going to be the loss of those early round draft picks last year, and the second round pick this year. They desperately need work at LB and the secondary, and they are going to have to get lucky with a lower pick or trade up--and trading up won't be easy with a salary cap, when your QB is paid as much as the GNP of Canada. As a Saint's fan, I'm sweatin' this year.

What part of Louisiana are you from?

I'm Macon Georgia, and also lived in Roswell, Georgia. My entire family is from Georgia. How long you been Who Dattin?

I'd say the sentiment around Atlanta about TD is still through the roof. Just look at the before and after on consistency and winning.

ETA - I appreciate any argument that employs one of the core Finebaum tactics, in this case "THEY'S REPORTERS PAWL, THEY DON'T PLAY THIS GAME," said the fat fan.

I want to make sure I understand this correctly before I comment further.

You assert one can not cheer for a professional sports team unless one lives in said team's state?

Of course not, I'm merely holding that idiot to his words.

I also never Tweeted anything like that. He's mincing what I said about a proliferation of bandwagon fans.

Actually, I'm not the idiot because I'm not the one who said it. You did, so own it. I have no problem with people rooting for teams in other states. Otherwise, folks in Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, etc. would be unable to watch the NFL. When you write something Godfrey, take ownership of it.

For the record, I've been who dattin' since I was born (over 40 years ago). I've always live in Central Mississippi. I've never lived in Louisiana. Of course, I'm not the one saying you must live in the state to root for a team. That was you.

fair enough

Looking up your twitter, it only allows me to go back 18 days (you have 14.9 K tweets). Don't know if that is because of your settings, my phone, or twitter's policy. Therefore I am unable to. My apologies for being unable to prove your dumbassery.

Twitter on Chrome lets me scroll well past a year...

Have at it, you still won't find what you think you saw.
