USM made a bad hire at Head Coach with Johnson, then made things worse by hiring a HC coach to be OC, just to get Alford to sign.
The Buzzards will suck for years to come.
They should have ponied up the money to keep Fedora.
Johnson was a longtime coordinator for a reason, he just isn't head coaching material.
Buckley is clearly in over his head at OC, this isn't Petal High football anymore...

Louisville will roll Saturday...

This was decided the moment USM ended up on the wrong side of the conference realignment that created the chasm between the "haves" and the "have nots". Their best case scenario from here on out is getting a decent coach to use them as a stepping stone.

Johnson was HC at the citadel when we hired him...

He also was the closest thing we had to a HC while he was here. Still might stink as a HC at USM but just saying...

Shuttling up those 10 fans in 2014 is going to be great. I hope Johnson has a buyout the size of the yearly operating budget of Hattesburg.

As discussed on OOB yesterday, I bet the Oak Grove vs Petal game outdraws USM vs Louisville. If it does happen that will go down as one of their most embarrassing moments in the glorius history of USM football.

That's why I liked the Fedora hire several years ago...

And I like the Johnson hire because he's of an age where that if he's successful, he may not necessarily want to leave. He could stay for about 10 seasons & then USM could go the Fedora-type route again. I don't like the OC hire of Buckley or the fact that Alford is playing as a true freshman instead of being redshirted though.

True story: A relative of mine posted a travel photo of him and his kid online a couple of weeks ago. He was wearing a Mustard Buzzard shirt. I knew he was a big Bammer so I asked him why he was wearing that shirt as I never knew he was one of the Ten. He said he was in Dick's looking for a bright yellow shirt to run in late in the evening. He said he got the Buzzard shirt for $5 from the bargin rack. He said the identical shirt without the Buzzard markings was $20.

Never understood why they didn't just move Fedora's offensive coordinator up to head coach. You're coming off your best season in 25 years and it's all because of the offense. So instead of continuing with someone who has worked in that offense and knows it, you bring in a defensive coach who's never been a I-A head coach and hire a high school coach to run the offense. Stupid.

Dollars to doughnuts the 2015 MSU @ USM game gets moved to Jackson

JSU owns the stadium in Jackson now. That's gonna make it pretty hard to move one there. Most schools aren't that keen to let another one use their stadium for a home game.

They're looking at playing Nebraska in New Orleans next year. I doubt they'll move our game away from Hattiesburg though.

I'm not sure what you're hoping to prove..

..other than the fact you're related to someone who would wear USM apparel just to save $15.

That the mark up far a genericc shirt was 4x what it was for the same shrit with USM stuff on it. And yes, he would do that. He spends money where he wants to. Running clothes isn't it.

Whatever dude. I didn't say he was a good HC.....

And he had a 12-22 record as a HC....

7-17 in his conference... Just saying.....dumbass..

Just that he had HC experience on his resume.

Also, because of that little extra you for some reason felt compelled to end your message with I'm just saying....Bite me.

Can Memorial hold that many more than USM's stadium?

Dollars to doughnuts the 2015 MSU @ USM game gets moved to Jackson

They'll sell out in Hattiesburg so I'm not sure how they'd make more money playing in Jackson after paying to use the stadium and paying for the team to travel unless it was a significant difference in capacity.

60,000 vs. 36,000. Which would be $1.2M at $50/ticket. I still don't see them moving that game after 20+ years of bitching about how we won't play them at their place, though.

We would be able to give them untold amounts of hell for moving their home game with us. And I'm not sure when the last time a SEC team played there was, but it has been a LONG time. It was probably us in fact.

They'll do what they do when we play them in baseball which is gouge up the ticket prices. I've gone to MLB games cheaper than some of the USM/MSU baseball games in Hattiesburg.

Correct you are. Us in 1989. They've had some Big12 and ACC teams in then recently, but none from the SEC.

Nobody was buying into a rivalry with USM. Several of us were OK with playing a 2-game series with them though. I'm still OK with it. It's no different than Tennessee playing Memphis occasionaly. Or LSU playing one of the directional Lousiana schools.

We would look like major pussies is we play JSU, Alcorn, Valley and not USM.

I'm one of the people that Pat is talking about that's OK with playing them twice every 4-5 years or so. I don't want to play them every year because it's not in our best interests and it's not in theirs either.
