Kiffin would not have left if there was any actual chance this year or next year. Saban and Caroll both advised him to leave before the early exit in the field of 12. Lane hit the ceiling and had to upgrade to go further. BUTTT...what Saban and Caroll don't know is what OM fans know: "it's the wizard and #TRUEREB Keith Carter that is the mastermind behind all the recent (and future) success, not Lane." Run with that narrative now to keep the fanbase hyped.

The sting of the upgrade will be the prime time narrative as yall take that L and early exit. Some folks just don't know their place in the pecking order and dang it burning through 8 figures yearly still aint enough for the SEC to give you a prime time home SEC game like LSU gets 4 times each year. Man that just aint fair.

Your place in the pecking order is 15/16 in this league, while we play a College Football Playoff game. Say that back to yourself slowly a couple of times.

What you are not getting is that its not possible for OM. Which is why Kiffin upgraded. It is not possible for Indiana either, and Indiana is a much better team that was able to keep their coach. The system allows the best elite programs to get even better without any limits. This is not a Disney made for TV underdog feel good movie. At the end of the day, just brag on being regular season champs that almost got to Atlanta and "almost beating Georgia" by getting that 1 4th quarter yard lol. Kirby plays the games the way ESPN wants, surely you can figure that out.

@olblue you seem almost savvy some days but then again, you are saying the "playoff" hype is real and it is not. You forget that Boise State, Arizona State, SMU and Tennesee all made the "playoffs" last year. It seems like a major accomplishment until you realize those teams and teams like OM this year have not a chance in hell. It is still the same as it always was, it is always between 2-3 teams each year, not 12.

Cost/benefit analysis says it is a major failure. Look at the cost of making the field of 12 without any real chance of winning the championship. Some might argue that whatever was spent, it is worth it to make the field of 12. It is not worth it and it has no actual, lasting value (see Tennessee 2024). It does not elevate the program like some think it might.
