They are rolling ! You can see where the football field was... The Press box is still standing. So is the Concession stand... The Field House behind the concession bldg is staying. The Concession is supposed to go along with the press box ..

This view is from Airport Drive at E Beal St. As you can see, Beal St is still running through the site. They are using it for everything!!

Still can't get used to the view when I come down Airport Drive. There used to be a bike trail through the woods that are now gone that I rode a time or two as a child.

They had bicycles back then?

Sure did, we even had skateboards and scooters. Don't get me wrong, I loved playing a little Excitebike, Mario Bros and Legend of Zelda but I preferred riding my bike over video games. It was a crazy, wild time. LOL

Hey, hey ,hey! Watch it bucko! I had a Schwinn Stingray screaming through those trails headed to the big DIRT Interstate 64 (when it was being built)! Straight shot on our bikes to downtown Richmond! Oh the fun us kids had in the mid 60's!

Born in '58 at Richmond Memorial, Buddy! That Interstate was our playground after the construction workers left for the day!! I think everybody that had a bicycle then trekked on it between somewhere near Williamsburg to Richmond!!!!

I wonder how many Civil War relics were uncovered when they tore all the trees up? There were trenches in there too from The Civil War.

I had a similar experience on 460. When they built the current four lane road, I had an old 59 Ford P/U that you couldn't hurt, and we rode the roadbed like it was a private racetrack. I should have been killed several times. Or shot by the contractor. But I somehow survived.

from what I hear HSHS will have Class 6 capacity; that may also mean Varina will probably go down to Class 4 (almost there this year). Talk among yourselves!!!

That would be interesting to say the least...

Varina in a region competing in the playoffs with the likes of Dinwiddie, Patrick Henry, Eastern View, Louisa to name a few.

Highland Springs moving to Class 6 and testing their mettle against the likes of Region 6A featuring schools like an Ocean Lakes or Oscar Smith.

Then who becomes the traditional threat in Region 5B??? Would it be Manchester, Hermitage, Deep Run, LC Bird???

Of course this would not take place for a few more years when the the current cycle runs its course.

As long as they have their current coaches all four will fight in out every year in 5B
