It's premium boardso won't go into too much detail but basically, this poster says he heard 3 or 4 items of note straight from a player's mouth. Pretty interesting stuff regarding how well specific players are doing.D. Murray then intervenes and tells the poster to never do that without giving who said what then proceeds to shoot down all of the poster's rumors simply because he had not heard them already. Hahaha. Yeah that's right Murray, no one could EVER know any news on the team that you didn't know first. And it wasn't like the news was anything earth shattering since I've read the same news on other boards. Murray has this ego that somehow makes him think the coaches and players give him special rights to the "big news" and all other journalists just get the small stuff. It's pretty comical and a shame too because I used to really like his articles before he became a full time lodger on swan lake.

Basically same stuff we all knew. Cox and Boyd have been weight room beasts and will be a awesome tandem. Favre will be better than expected and would make a big push for the starting job if not for Relf. Harrison-Gay looks to be a factor at DE. Oh and something about Elliott being bigger and faster than before and could really contribute. (Don'tget any hopes up).Like I said, it was nothing earth shattering at all, which makes Murray's intervention all the more lame.

..that's why gene forbids rumors, questioning coaches, or critical analysis of MSU sports screw-ups.


Because that sort of free speech activity might piss off the MSU athletic dept. hierarchy, & retaliation would be a withdrawal of gene's access to the players.


That's where Murray was coming from when you gave you the ultimatum.

They aren't rumors either.Does Murray believe in his heart of hearts that a player saying someone is a beast in the weightroom, or has improved since last year will really irritate the coaches? I understand your point, but this subject matter is just common run of the mill stuff asprevious postershave stated.

he doesnt jump the guy, hepolitely asks him to frame the comments differently next time - even goes on tocomment on the guys sources' observations which i think clearly shows he is not that pissed.

Do i think it is a big deal? No.However, it absolutely irritates the coaches, it MORE than irritates the coaches because of NCAA bylaws forbidding players from giving anyinside information to anyone not involved in the program. As a former student athlete, I can testify thatthis was one of the few serious topics of conversation in preseason meetings even for my sport which was not one of the big 3.
