Herenton's not mayor. Of course, that doesn't mean he can't consider a congressional run anyway...

But, I'm not seeing the point in getting worked up about this as many folks in Memphis seem to be this morning. Fist bump? Really? Why care? He cleared it with the Dalai Lama's entourage beforehand. He greeted him as anyone normally would, then showed Dalai Lama the fist bump. It was meant to be funny - and the Dalai Lama laughed.

Had it been Willie, he probably would have told the Dalai Lama he isn't deserving of Civil Right's Museum Freedom Award since he isn't black. Or, challenged him to a boxing match.

And I agree. This isn't that big of deal to get worked up about. Now if the Lama would have bumped and then blown it up, it would have been 17ing sweet.

We have a lot of stupid things to worry about here in Memphis but this isn't one of them. He did the traditional greeting as appropriate and then he did the fist bump which was cleared as a funny thing to do and the Lama seemed to enjoy it. I thought it was amusing.
