then cutting them loose just before training camp starts
Doesn't sound fair to the recruits , but in this day of NILs anything seems permissible and the NCAA just looks the other way because they don't know how to stop it
>Moving forward, FBS programs now simply must be at or below 85 scholarship players by the opening of training camp. If coaches want to bring in 85 new players from season to season, the NCAA rule book won't stop them.<

It’s wild !!!

The notion of amateur athletics needs to be abandoned and everyone will be better off some type of Employee-employer relationship needs to be defined

footballscoop must be run by some impotent mofo's because their articles have a lot of ED advertisements.

Reminder that the NCAA had rules; the Supreme Court (in its infinite wisdom) invalidated them. This is not the NCAA's fault.

This and other moves have completely reversed the previous decades worth of trying to keep things fair for everyone. The moneyed teams still had an advantage.. especially those with teh brown-bag payments.. but things became more fair. 85 schollies prevented the money guys from stocking teams 3 deep with 4 and 5 stars. The 25 in one year did similarly help parity and fairness in recruiting. The transfer rules limited wholesale buying of other teams surprising good players.

Everything that has been done recently reverses all that and gives the money programs all the advantages.

Who wins? Just the money guys and the TV networks and advertisers who only really want to pay for highly watched games between high-ranked teams with recognizable names.

All this was done to promote the known big names.. give them every advantage. Keep the riff-raff down.

It is disgusting... especially when they claim it is so they can pay the players what they deserve.

There’s not going to be many coaches who would do what OP calls out. They wouldn’t be around long
