Because NIL isn't reported by any program. The schools aren't even paying it. Its all research being done. As McAfee and others have said...Penn State is spending a ton of money...a ton.How do you know those numbers aren't accurate?

Agree with that, but it's impossible to know whether Indiana was operating with less in terms of private donations. Mendoza was supposedly being paid upwards of $4.5 million this year.
the employee-employer relationship requires a lot of hoop jumping, worker's comp for one. What responsibilities?
Who cares about the sponsor of it? It doesn't even make sense as an argument
I think the difference is that every team has access to an NCAA Championship. The College Football Championship is exclusionary in nature.Who cares about the sponsor of it? It doesn't even make sense as an argument
So you want to expand to 24 with all 10 conference winners to align with the rest of the NCAA sports that have conference winners and at large teams?I think the difference is that every team has access to an NCAA Championship. The College Football Championship is exclusionary in nature.
So...yes? You'd support a 24 team playoff with all conference winners and consider that a legit title like all other sports? If so, we're aligned. Tulane and JMU didn't help the cause this year but I'm all for that...you just have to double the field to justify it.My personal belief is that to be legit every team completing has to have a path. Knowing that you don't have a path is not the way of sport. I know Group 5 teams have little to no chance of winning in that type of tournament, but they should be included.
The converse is just all the money to the B1G and SEC then it doesn't matter who gets in as long as they get paid.
16 and 0 beating the best in their conference and the best others had to offer. I mean GEEZ.
I feel like I lost about 100 IQ points just glancing through this thread. Gosh, this fanbase has some of the dumbest people around.
Yowsuh!!Must be nice to have them in the first place.

I agree it should be the FNC and play the game on Friday night not Monday! This MNC is worthless.
Why would I root for Georgia? I am a PSU Alum. We're still paying all of them...and we'll
Georgia is 90% of their own recruits...do you root for them?
Just to clarify, this is not NCAA DI football…I believe we understand what has and continues to transpire with NCAA Division 1 football and we continue to watch. I have not yet arrived at the point where I will stop watching. What I don't understand is why you continue to follow PSU and the sport while seemingly having disdain for what it has become?
Because they're the program people want Penn State to be--they keep their guys and don't live & die with the portalWhy would I root for Georgia? I am a PSU Alum.
And how did "your team" do Barry?Rough season to go from #2 to unranked before the halfway point while having to deal with the success of bottom dweller IU. It is just not fair, why can't we do it?
But we still got our memories of Joe and his 2 natties to obsess about, not to mention the other seasons we award ourselves titles by winning games we never played. We need to remain legends in our own minds and to hell with this reality stuff.
That is my thought. I will say that I know that it will never happen and it is looked upon as a bad idea. Everyone wants the B1G and SEC to have 10 teams each. So I know my wish will never happen.So...yes? You'd support a 24 team playoff with all conference winners and consider that a legit title like all other sports? If so, we're aligned. So true, Cignetti put on a masterclass in modern roster building.Kudos to Indiana for spending money wisely.
I hope PSU was taking notes! The average age of Indiana's starting lineup was almost 24 years of age.... Indiana had 47 players on their roster between the ages of 22 and 25. This is Professional Minor-League Football with Universities' names written on the jersies, not college football. Why the goofs at ESPiN/ABC keep calling this farce "college football" is emblematic of that putrid pos network.
I’m a lawyer and couldn’t care less. I want to see PSU do well. I do enough lawyering at work, don’t need it in my free time.LMAO, what difference does it make? Seriously? You think the universities are maintaining this farce in regards to their payments because it doesn't matter? LMFAO at some of you morons - it makes a MASSIVE difference within the laws and court systems that apply in regards to whether this is Professional or Amateur Sports League! For instance, the NCAA (which is the universities themselves) have no Federal Anti-Trust Exemption and it would be a clear Anti-Trust Violation if the Universities admitted that these contracts were "Pay to Play" Contracts in a Professional Football League and they were arbitrarily limiting players eligibility to play to 5 years without any kind of Antitrust Exemption from the Federal Government. The Universities would also be up $h!t$creek in regard to writing clear employment contracts without doing proper payroll withholding in addition to violating ERISA laws by not providing employee benefits..... And a ton of other reasons the Universities are attempting to maintain this sham of a lie. Utterly comical that you think the Universities are conducting this bs sham because "it makes no difference". LMAO.
I'm a lawyer....Pitt is jembti kuracI’m a lawyer and couldn’t care less. I want to see PSU do well. I do enough lawyering at work, don’t need it in my free time.
Truth!! What was "playoff" about this nice tournament. Indiana beat the third place team from the ACC. Third place! How did the winner of the conference do you ask? Oh wait! They weren't even invited to participate. How can that be? It's because it's a made for TV tournament designed to get the best TV ratings and make the most MONEY!!!! It's entertaining. I watched but it sure isn't a playoff. There's no official national championship for NCAA 1-A football. It's still mythical. I mean there's a thing called "College Football Playoff" but that's not an official NCAA run event and is just a name for the series of games.
Take you vulgarity back to other board jumboI'm a lawyer....Pitt is jembti kurac
The joke seems to be you. And Bjob nitwit. This thread is a joke. Somehow I don't see a thread like this if BGJ won it all for PSU.
Why would I root for Georgia? I am a PSU Alum.
I would love for PSU to be able to keep their guys and still be competitive. What’s your point?Because they're the program people want Penn State to be--they keep their guys and don't live & die with the portal
Being a PSU Alum doesn't mean you can't like other teams in addition to Penn State--we weren't in the playoff
Given state limits on workmen's comp, it's probably more of a contractual issue (does the school pay an athletes who misses a game because of injury?) than anything else. That's what agents are paid to negotiate.the employee-employer relationship requires a lot of hoop jumping, worker's comp for one.
Considering the thread starter is a mentally ill, racist POS, I'm sure he'd have something stupid to say if that had happenedThis thread is a joke. Somehow I don't see a thread like this if BGJ won it all for PSU
Let’s see…..we have 1 transfer in the starting lineup. 2 if you consider Mesenbrink who came in before his freshman season. All that being said. That was a heck of a game! I enjoyed watching every minute. I think the NCAA got this one right.
Another question is the PSU wrestling team a bunch of mercenaries as well? I think there will be a different opinion because they are our guys.
That Penn State wasn't in the playoff so wouldn't you want the team that build their program the way you want to be successful instead of Indiana Miami Texas Tech etc that is 23+ with 60% or more transfers?I would love for PSU to be able to keep their guys and still be competitive. What’s your point?
Literally the opposite of the 4 team and that absurd nonsense that was 2 teams where sometimes you didn’t even have to play the champ of any other conference.16 and 0 beating the best in their conference and the best others had to offer. I mean GEEZ.
Bums stolen. Worthless.Literally the opposite of the 4 team and that absurd nonsense that was 2 teams where sometimes you didn’t even have to play the champ of any other conference.
And he would have said it at 130 in the morning because he has nothing else to do in his lousy existenceConsidering the thread starter is a mentally ill, racist POS, I'm sure he'd have something stupid to say if that had happened
Nobody knows what sour grapes are like more than you, that's for certain. Those grapes must be sour since I cannot have any.
I care, because I’m a bit older and remember when College football was about school spirit, real student athletes, homecoming, tradition…and it was way more engaging and fun. I still root for PSU, but it’s not the same.
Trying to imagine Shane Conlan and DJ Dozier transferring to Miami for a big payday in their 5th year. Don’t mind me…like I said…I’m just old.
