I think the difference is that every team has access to an NCAA Championship. The College Football Championship is exclusionary in nature.
So you want to expand to 24 with all 10 conference winners to align with the rest of the NCAA sports that have conference winners and at large teams?
My personal belief is that to be legit every team completing has to have a path. Knowing that you don't have a path is not the way of sport. I know Group 5 teams have little to no chance of winning in that type of tournament, but they should be included.

So...yes? You'd support a 24 team playoff with all conference winners and consider that a legit title like all other sports? If so, we're aligned. Tulane and JMU didn't help the cause this year but I'm all for that...you just have to double the field to justify it.

That is my thought. I will say that I know that it will never happen and it is looked upon as a bad idea. Everyone wants the B1G and SEC to have 10 teams each. So I know my wish will never happen.

Truth!! What was "playoff" about this nice tournament. Indiana beat the third place team from the ACC. Third place! How did the winner of the conference do you ask? Oh wait! They weren't even invited to participate. How can that be? It's because it's a made for TV tournament designed to get the best TV ratings and make the most MONEY!!!! It's entertaining. I watched but it sure isn't a playoff.

Given state limits on workmen's comp, it's probably more of a contractual issue (does the school pay an athletes who misses a game because of injury?) than anything else. That's what agents are paid to negotiate.
