Man, I’m just talk about a gentleman’s agreement here.

Several years ago we had two players who wanted to transfer from State to OM, the conference put a stop to it and I believe they ended up at FSU.

Having players go back and forth between us and them is not a good thing especially knowing they can outbid us every time.

The benefit to us is obvious. The benefit to them is one less program trying to tamper with their players.

l’d like to see no intra conference transfers, but that likely won’t withstand legal challenges.
They can’t outbid us on every player. They can no longer outbid us on any player we really want to keep. We literally have the best offer on the table for a 1st round draft pick left tackle in the portal right now. Things have changed

$4 million to a college OL

Dan Mullen made less most of his tenure.

Son of a B itch, I wish I was 18, 6’7” and 320

Surely some of you realize that this is asinine.
Absolutely it’s Insane but it is what it is right now and until the President’s, the AD’s and the NCAA decides they are (have) ruining (ruined) college athletics and rein this BS in, we have to play the game and play it like we actually give a 17 or we’ll continue to have 5-7 seasons.

The issue is they can afford any of our players, including KT. On the other hand, we’re on the budget plan. They shop at Costco, we shop at Sams. They shot at Target, we shop at Dollar General. I’ve heard Pete, unlike Lame, is a good human. Make a deal with him, it’s rare we’ll have a player they want anyway, but if KT balls out in 2026 and gets crazy offers we can’t match, i’d rather him go anywhere else than Oxford
If you think a "gentlemen's agreement" with those clowns would be worth the phone call it took to arrange it, you're delusional! Also, the gap between our NIL and theirs isn't anywhere near as large as you seem to think it is.

A gentlemen’s agreement only works when both parties are gentlemen.

It wouldn’t be between them and us, it’d be between Pete and Lenny. You certainly wouldn’t make a deal like that with Lane.

I have trouble believing we're going to pay reportedly 16% of our entire budget for 1 player. Not saying we will or won't get him, but I doubt it will be for $5 million.
You doubt wrong. We will not lose Seaton over money. You need elite players to compete & elite players cost $$$$$. Got to protect KT especially with him giving up money to get better players.

As far as missing on him, only way we miss is if he just doesnt show up. He's a future 1st rounder possibly top 10 pick.

State has the money. Love ya Pat but some of yall are just negative to be negative.

That’s ridiculous. We don’t need a QB.
We don’t? Putting all the eggs in the basket of one player who may or may not be that good, and already sustained a major injury just his second start? OK.

What else you gonna spend it on?
Multiple players. 2 pretty good players at other positions, or even the same position (OL). Maybe even 3.

Maaaybe on a pass rusher but there is no greater need for MSU than a whole new BETTER offensive line.

We need 5 good lineman. Breaking the bank on one really good one arguably isn’t necessarily the most efficient use of resources. Time will tell, but its put up or shut up for Lebby, so I guess we’ll see what he cobbles together.

Several reporting regarding Seaton

"Immediately after the announcement, speculation emerged as to where the former freshman All-American would end up, with the usual suspects: Miami, Oregon, and Texas, heading up the discussion"

"But since that point, it seems as if the Longhorns have opted to go in a different direction, while Seaton has not visited the Hurricanes or been linked to them beyond initial discussions."

"Now, it appears that a team nobody was talking about may well be leading the race to land the potential first-round selection in the 2027 NFL Draft."

"further reports suggest that Mississippi State is a major player in Seaton’s recruitment, and they’re one that absolutely nobody saw coming"

Where did you find that if you don’t mind me asking?

Speaking of Colorado, it must be a sh*t show over there. They have 38 transferring out and bringing 35 transfers in. It's like they are turning over a third of their roster just in transfers.

Apparently from his X, which I'm not chasing down.
"Seaton reacts to Dante Moore's return, fueling Oregon Ducks rumors
Seaton fueled speculation about joining Oregon after he reacted to Dante Moore's announcement that he would return to Eugene for another season."

Idk how serious Oregon is but they could outbid us, otherwise we're the top bidder atm. He still has his Miami visit, but how much attn can they give him right now?

Rumor is LSU's LT isnt happy about their interest in Seaton.

“Overpaying” this guy gives us the best chance to turn this shîtshöw around (outside of a full program dismantling and starting over again). What we pay him is an investment in KT and in the upward trajectory of this program for years to come.

I think if the playmaker doesn't convince him to go to Miami we might be the spot. There is no telling what Michael has lined up down there for him to put the icing on the cake. There is some serious talent down there

Damn right. I’d love for us to “overpay” for several future 1st round picks. Seems to be working out ok for some schools.

Agreed. I'd pull the card of say here's 4 mil. Take it now or it goes back to 3 mil and we're going to pursue other athletes in the mean time.

I imagine auburn pulled something similar with Arnold last year so we wouldn't visit Starkville

That figure has to include a portion of the rev share and nil. In other words, we are probably offering him a larger % of rev share than other football players. That's my guess.

If some booster(s) is really offering a $5m nil deal, I'm impressed.

I've been to a lot of city/county meetings for work and always here about all that economic development jazz. The figure I always here is that a dollar turns over about 7 times in a community, on average. No idea if that's true. But I'm sure they are talking about total spending power of the money that got injected into Oxford on that day. Probably around 10M straight purchasing that day, then turned over 7 times.

That may all be bullshlt but that's my half-educated guess, again, outside ticket sales, which didn't happen all on that day. But shlt tickets alone were probably 20M too.
Do you also “here” voices in your head?

I don't know much about big city finances but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

That is grossly over estimated. On purpose. They are so far in the red they have to make it look worth what folks are dumping down the drain with creative accounting. Many others are also deep in the red. It's not sustainable.
It's really that unbelievable of a number. That's like $1250 a person over the course of their highest demand weekend ever. I am sure they rounded up, but it's definitely not 'grossly' overestimated.

If this guy is what they say he is, and I have no reason to believe he isn’t, you pay what it takes.

We have whiffed on the most important spot on offense outside the Qb position at this point. You have to pay whatever it takes to get a legit option there and there’s not many other options that will be good in this league left in the portal if this guy doesn’t choose us. It’s a major decision for our program.

Every single SEC win is worth about 20 million dollars to that town’s economy.
This is straight up idiotic.

A game is played between Ole Miss and Arkansas in Oxford. It comes down to an Ole Miss FG attempt as time expires with the Rebels trailing by 1.

They don’t make the FG, spending at hotels / restaurants / bars / AirBnB’s, etc. = X.

They make the FG, and somehow that figure is equal to X + $20 million???

That’s some of the most absurd shít I’ve ever read on this board. And that’s really saying something.

Look, we need a LT that can pass pro just well enough to get the DE five yards up field, then the drop back and run is money. ***
