It should, but to really get the crowds in for more than SBW and the LSU and OM series, we need to upgrade/build the stadium. Chair back the lines, more food choices, more restrooms, more areas to sell MSU gear and a ticket exchange to fill the grandstands. I would love a new facility but a major update would be welcome. Alabama is spending $30 million on their facility. Hey Scott Stricklin, where are you?

Holy thread hijack.

The need for a new stadium/extensive renovation has been discussed and it darn sure wont happen before next season.

I think the OP asked a good question, and I think it's possible we see a bump. I know for one weekend a lot of people were excited about baseball that a month ago didn't give baseball a second thought. I think we'd have to stay in the top ten all year to get consistently good crowds. Fans are so fickle.

One would think so, I am not set on believing our attendance will increase very much though. Cohen has shown great success the past three years and our attendance average has risen about a 1000 since his arrival in 2009, yet if I understand it correctly, that number is reflective of ticket sales. I think the average will increase at a max of 500 next season, but personally I don't think we sniff even that.

Think it'll go up considerably?

Actual probably will...

What we see on paper -- paid attendance -- in the form of season tickets -- is basically capped by those bleachers. NO ONE is buying season tickets to sit out there...

I think we could conceivably reclaim #3 in average paid attendance next year. Maybe even #2 if things go right...

Baseball is like the NBA for most fans. Too many games and most don't pay attention till the playoffs.

Question: Where did you see that Bama is spending 30 mill on Sewell Thomas?

Would love to see a ticket exchange like the flashseats in Omaha to be used for the big three sports

According to the article, "is spending" is a little premature. The stadium upgrade is scheduled to be presented for consideration but hasn't been approved. Saban will probably veto it ... that money could be better spent on football. **

I'm moving up north and after being here for 4 long years and only leaving a handful of times in that time I thought about the idea of not coming back for a year or two so that I can fully appreciate the next time I'm in town....... but after this postseason I've already committed to coming back for next year's SBW. Count me in.

I remember I spent my 19th birthday at Dudy Noble the season we won 6 games watching us play against USA on a Wednesday. I was maybe one of 100 in attendance.

I don't think you'll ever see that happen again. It's now a major MAJOR draw for students to go and eat, get drunk, and pick up girls (and for the girls to socialize). I think you'll see an increase in average, but the most important stat is I don't believe there will ever be less than 4,000 at a game. Quite the jump from 19th birthday.

I think we can bring 20,000 to DNF for SBW. It will be entirely uncomfortable, hectic, and down right inconvenient but it will be one of the most fun times in my lifetime. Just need to get drunk first to avoid the panic attack induced by claustrophobia.

Alabama is spending bank on their stadium because as it stands, it looks like a high school stadium sandwiched on the side of a highway. As much as I hate Alabama, BDS is a marvel to any college football fan. Their baseball and basketball arenas suffer from their football success though. I don't think we should bookmark DNF by Alabama's spending... because they're basically starting from scratch. No amount of money could replicate DNF.
