Common sense Americans have been backed into a corner.

At my last job, there was a gay guy that worked there. He had a boyfriend the whole time but I didn't know he had a boyfriend. I didn't know he was gay until I learned when he came back from vacation that he had married this boyfriend. Never once has he ever talked to me about being gay since then, yet I constantly hear from people who hate gays that the gay lifestyle is being forced on us by all the gays.

Same goes with many Christians, it all comes down to selfishness and the belief that literally anything outside their world view is unacceptable for the most part. They always complaining about how anti-Christian stuff is being forced on America all the time. The country was founded on religious freedom, yet Christians have been forcing Christianity (and in the cases of Native Americans and slaves, literally forcing them to convert to Christianity) on everyone on this continent ever since they stepped foot on it.

I don't care if a person is gay, nor do I grant any special treatment to anybody because of their sexual preferences. I just don't care, except I don't tolerate pedophiles. Have a decent character and respect others and you're good with me.

However, if you're the type of gay who feels compelled to stick your dick out or simulate wild sex acts in public, especially around children, such as in a parade, then complain and make it a political issue when some people don't like it, you're dog **** to me. Gay or not, keep that **** private. You do a disservice to the reputation of gay people who show class and basic human decency while simply seeking to live in a healthy society. And that's what it comes down to, the constant struggle over societal norms.

I know gay people who share these values. I don't tend to associate with the others.

Well I good write a book on the topic . For some reason being gay runs in both my family and my wifes family . So I've been around lots in my family . I'm a Christian , I do believe it is sin and not what God desires for the person . But its a super deep complex issue that I wont claim any perfection on .. I have changed my mind on whether a person is born gay , or at least born with a strong tendency to be gay . Was close enough to see a male child grow up thinking he isnt masculine at all. Wonder if he will be gay when he grows up -- yes he did . Was close enough to see a female grow up straight with male boyfriends that she dated for 6 months or longer , then turn into same same attraction at age 16 . Have another family member never have an opposite sex attraction . There used to be a guy that post here years and years ago , he as gay and told us several times in discussion , just as naturally as a straight person feels a tingle or urge towards an attractive person of the opposite sex he got it for same sex . He said he never in his life felt an urge towards the opposite sex . And i believe that .
But sadly we all have some shortcoming , some tendency to fall into some some sort of sin . Same same attraction isnt a sin , but i do thing acting on it is . I'm prone to anger , Im prone to greediness .. I just make my best attempts at fighting it . When we both fail ( the gay and the straight) we have savior who forgives us . Assuming the person truly is saved and placed belief in the Lord and has the Holy Spirit in them . It would be my hope the gay person lives an asexual life or the straight person turns away from their sin . Its a complex gray issue sometimes with very little clearness .
I love those in my family circle that are gay , they have brought their mates with them several times to my house . I want whats best for them and for them to live peaceful , long happy lives , at some point that would mean living the gay lifestyle behind , and if they either cant , or choose not to , I hope their sin is forgiven and they spend eternity in heaven , because I'll go to my death with sin my life , and without that hope - forgiveness , none of us will enter heaven . very complicated issue .

That got me thinking -- what's the general consensus on homosexuality in your area? What are your personal beliefs on the matter, if you don't mind sharing them with us?

I was raised to believe that homosexuality is a sin, but also that we shouldn't judge people and to just live and let live.

I no longer believe that it's a sin, but rather merely a normal varying combination of genetics and environment, the same things that influence heterosexuality. And I still believe in "live and let live".

I'm for gay marriage as long as both of the chicks are hot!!!

Lying, stealing, murder, etc are also wrong. People have free will to do what they want. On earth there may be some punishment for certain actions based on the laws of the land.

On judgment day, there will be punishment based on God’s laws. Everyone will give an account for what they’ve done including you and me.

I don’t judge your friend but I would warn her given the opportunity, same as I would warn someone in the middle of the street about to be run over.

Homosexuality is not illegal in the US and that’s about the best you can say for it. Am in agreement with laws against persecution of gays, but not gonna ignore the immorality of it when confronted. Now no one asked me to comment in this thread but I did anyway.

By religion "slash" Christianity you mean only the Christian religion, correct? Because by early versions of the Bible your probably do not mean the Torah or Judaism. And certainly by the "religion" part you certainly do not mean Islam and Moslems.

I must say how I so enjoyed the previous poster who introduced his "two-fold" sense of entertainment on this issue because that is most certainly how it works for me, particularly when observing others ordain their sense of virtue and morality while condemning examples of Christian practice, and why? Because those same people who will condemn Christianity in order to defend almost any social element of homosexuality, trans, etc., will also never balk at the opportunity to defend Islam, it's Moslem followers, associated cultures, their right to expand, practice freely with no interference or judgement, and so on, all of which are ideologies, institutions, tribes, cults and sects who will and do MURDER homosexuals.

The right side of history . . . such a pleasure to use that phrase. But then many years go by and sudden, compacted conflicts occur and the real history is determined by men who have the actual will to achieve it.

Personally, I could not give two chits either way about another man's sexual urges, or about his belief systems. But what I do know is that a measurable rate of change is underway. And many generations from now, or maybe not too many, there will be a great persecution in the west of gays, of unfaithful women, and it is being promulgated today by these very people, who think they can be two-fold in their sense of generosity. They entertain me to no end by the knowing of how the reckoning will come with their denial of responsibility, and with their demands for much better men to fix it, and make history right.

Lucky for them, the left is now the driving force for segregation. Separate schools, housing, graduation ceremonies, ... you name it, the left wants it. It's to the point that it's hard to see any difference between a racist and a leftist. They've set race relations back decades.

I believe it's a sin. I also believe that Jesus Christ came to save sinners like me & anyone with homosexual sins also. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 we read of former homosexuals & others with other forms of sexual immorality that had been forgiven & changed.

There's much more to be said but my point is:

#1 homsexuality is a form of sexual immorality & is a sin. The Bible is clear on this despite clever attempts to dismiss.

#2 Homsexuals, lesbians, adulters, fornicators...etc...are redeemable like all other sinners through Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. God is just & the justifier of any sinner who repents & trusts in Christ (Romans 3:23-26).

Nah...no anger. I'm polite to them most of the time, unless I'm in a hurry or if they are too dense to understand I have zero interest in listening to them. Hell, this past Saturday some dude who was running for the school board here in TN that rolled up in the driveway as we were loading up in the truck to go to our granddaughter's birthday party. He wanted to talk about his ideas about education here. I told him we lived in Florida and didn't vote here. That should have ended the conversation, but he then asked us if we could pass on his information to our neighbors that did vote here. I asked him to get out of our driveway because we were leaving, and that he should pass his information on to the neighbors himself. I always try to be polite, but some people just won't let you.

Triumph over mom? That's a bizarre way to see that. She was ranting about that being all there was on TV. I told her she had 300 channels to choose from. That should have ended with her turning to another channel, or simply turning the TV off. As usual, she chose to escalate things by telling me she would have disowned me if I had been gay, as though that would hurt my feelings. My reply to her was the truth, and she knew it. I took her to Cracker Barrel afterwards if that makes you feel any better.

Also, what would it matter who committed adultery, and whether or not we reconciled? Either way, we move on. I'm not sure what you failed to understand about that the first time.

• One verse says "Ye shall not round the corners of your heads" which from I am reading is interpreted to mean not to cut the hair on the side of your head
• Another verse basically says anything that lives in water that doesn't have fins and scales shouldn't be eaten.
• It supports slavery on numerous occasions.
• It supports sex slavery
• It says people who curse at their parents shall be sentenced to death.
• It says that females that engage in premarital sex shall be stoned to death.

• IT says women who give birth to girls are "unclean" for 66 days and have to be purified
• It says if a woman attempts to physically defend her husband then she shall have her hand cut off
• It says that a person born out of wedlock should not be allowed into the church
• It says if you disobey God then you must eat your babies
• In another verse it endorses cannibalism by talking about boiling a person's child and then eating it.
• It says that women are not allowed to teach men and that women must remain silent
• It says if someone steals then they should have their hand cut off
• But it also says that if someone steals something from you, you should give them something else
• It says you should discipline your children by throwing them against a stone wall

So I ask you, why is it that Christians get to pick and choose which parts of the Bible are relevant and which parts aren't?
