with USM fans?

Got a call from a eagle friend who was foaming at the mouth over Ellis. Said that he keeps calling out players for the slow start. Am wondering if Ellis was a good hire at USM.

I always thought he was a good defensive coach and was under the impression that he was one of the big factors at USCe. I have not really followed him since he had those 'personal family' issues that caused him to leave State for Arkansas South Carolina. He doesn't seem to have the personality of Fedora to motivate the players or fans.

USM travels to Bowling Green to play Western Ky; have Louisville and Boise State at home before traveling to play UCF. They could be looking at 0-6 or 1-5 to start the year. That kind of start does not make for a long term arrangement.

** Topic submitted 'cause I got tired of reading about the Grove or head-to-head radio conflicts.

It's kind of like saving your virginity until marriage and realizing your partner sucks in bed.

Hmm... I don't know about you, but I think I'd still be pretty happy to get laid. As long as the legs stay open, I'm happy.

I like your little saying, but I don't think it really applies to this thread.

He still could be... but allowing him in the situation he's currently in isn't helping his development by any stretch of the means.

Johnson never enjoyed recruiting while at State. He obviously was ready to start calling the shots instead of having to answer to someone else. Johnson wanted to fill a "CEO" role: push all of the grunt work onto someone who is trying to climb the coaching ladder while he does the glam things like playing golf and press conferences. It's not working out too well for him.

He knows the game of football, but I don't think he's going to attack the job the way that Bauer and Fedora did.

There's a reason a 70 year old man

has been a life long coordinator.....he's not a HC. Its a completely different set of skills and they are not interchangeable.

I can't believe they hired him.

On the other hand, if the honeymoon is truly over after only two games, it bodes well for them...hell, it took some State fans five years for it to be over with with Crooms. I was not one of them since I thought and stated at the time that it was a horrendous mistake when Crooms was hired. I was banned from the swan page for saying it at the time.

Looking at the boards on eaglepost.net, it would seem that initials are all the

rage. CC, AA, RL, EJ..........looks like a NASA press release.

Those jokers are hyperventilating so bad that the origin of the next named storm will be in Hattiesburg.
