The game was fun. I just felt like watching an Xavier broadcast instead of a play-in-basketball match a few times during the end of the second half.
You are not wrong. They were just short of openly rooting for Xavier. I don’t know if it was the energy of a basic home crowd or what.
I think they and the officials felt the crowd.
Xavier will have a less friendly environment in Milwaukee against Illinois.
That’s the problem with having the first four in Dayton every year. Some teams will get huge home crowd advantages. A couple of years ago, Dayton was in the first four and playing on their home court against Boise State. Xavier is only about an hour away from Dayton, so it was basically a home game for them last night. The teams in the first four are supposed to be equally matched, so one team getting a home crowd is a big advantage.
So it’s like watching us playing our opponents?***
