Yea we'll back our way into 8/9/10 seed in the dance but it's been a frustrating conference season. We only upset what one team in aTm? (Who I have no idea how they are that good- they have nobody who looks like a basketball player to me).. but we also lost a few that we absolutely should not have lost. Ok you lose some you shouldn't but man you gotta get more upsets to balance that out if you want to be considered a good team.

I’m not so sure we are underachieving now as opposed to we overachieved the first part of the season. In a lot of ways we just arent that good. It starts with shooting. Do elite shooters just not want to come here or does Jans not prioritize that in recruiting?

ms state athletics is a dumpster fire right now
Why? Because one of the 2-3 least talented teams in SEC basketball is going to still finish at / near .500 in league play….and with a guaranteed NCAA tournament bid for the 3rd year in a row?

Look at Texas. Lottery pick at guard. 4* and 5* talent everywhere. 6-11 in SEC play and on the bubble. This league is brutally tough, and we don’t have much talent or skill in anything. Just a bunch of tenacity and really good coaching.

Truth be told, we just don’t have any high level talent. Hubbard is small, can’t defend, and a streaky shooter. He was 3-12 tonight and 1-6 from three. Kugal has talent but is a complete head case. Cam can’t shoot at all. Murphy is pretty good but gets muscled down low. Melendez is a role player, and Harris has gone MIA. Jans is a hell of a coach to coax 20 wins out of this bunch, but we appear to be running out of gas. We have to get better talent if we want to be anything more than a bubble or slightly better team.

6-25 from 3. This team doesn’t do anything at a high level but there is always one constant
I remember the first game of the year against Nobody Tech when Harris came out bombing 3’s. Boy that was fools gold.

we have an average basketball team, football doesn’t even care, and a baseball coach that can barely spell his own name. i think it’s pretty bad right now compared to years past

I think we’ve got 8/9 seed written all over us. Probably against somebody that will shoot our lights out. And even if we win the first game, get ready for someone like Duke or Houston in round 2.

Short tourney stay incoming. I am not even sure we will be favored in our first round game.

Judging from previous experience, we will be hung over after this loss and get blown out by Arkansas on Saturday. We might win our first SEC Tourney game against LSU or South Carolina, but they will be it. 8 or 9 seed in the tourney and a first round loss. I’ve been bullish about this team this season, but tonight’s loss was really bad. We’re limping bad to the finish line. This is supposed to be the easiest part of our SEC schedule and we’re probably going to finish 1-4 in our last five games.

I’m pretty sure they are getting coached wrong by an assistant. Looking at brooks

If there was one sport a founding sec member like Miss State could beat a new sec member like Texas, which sport would it be and why? I’ll hang up and listen.

I’m sorry, I watched two teams play their asses off. The second half coaching decisions were great by Jans. The defense played with every bit of effort. We just didn’t make a play or two and the balls bounced their way. Several of their threes were with hands in their face and when they weren’t it was because our guys were busting through screens. I’ve watched some pretty bad MSU basketball over the last 10 years but I enjoyed the effort tonight.

We really were a very good, a legit top 10 team, not even 2 months ago. January 10th, 2025 to be exact. I have no clue what happened but this year reflects really poorly on Jans, from a pure coaching ability standpoint. He took a team that had real potential and the buttons he pushed this year were all the wrong ones. Unless he takes a step back and reevaluates some of his coaching tactics he’ll never win deep in tourney here or anywhere.

I get it, yes we had a great year for MSU Mens BBall for our history and anytime you go to tourney it is a successful year and from the outside yeah cool. But for those of us that follow closely, we know Jans took lemons and made lemonade, sure. But the lemonade tasted like sh-it.

We watched several games together in real life….and in no way would you have been this soft with a stans team. We played in spurts tonight.

not blocking out, no motion on some offensive sets …inexcusable..especially with our home crowd there supporting.

yeah, “get off my greenwave lawn” but you know I’m right.

btw, when did we become so 17ing old?!?

You don’t “overachieve” after first 1/5th of season. We reached and played to potential. It is Jans job to continue building on that but the team regressed. Even effort.

If I was given odds on this exact scenario playing out I’d sincerely withdraw a substantial amount of what I have and place a wager

Texas is going to become another Alabama football, Kentucky basketball to us but in every sport. We will never beat them
