Is it really gigantic though? We haven't made it out of the first weekend since Bill Clinton's first term. We're going to struggle to get to the sweet 16 no matter if the team is a 1, 2, or 3 seed.
As I said above, give me a Michigan State-type in the 2nd round and I'll take my chances.

We have exactly ZERO chance to win against Duke/Auburn/Houston.

Uh... yes, it matters a lot. Have you seen them play?

Michigan State: 29.7% and 165 3-pointers made. That's worse than us in both categories, if you can believe that.
Duke: 38.5% and 313 3-pointers made.

I would no doubt rather play Michigan State - I know what happened last year, and yes I'd still want to play them.
Just to be clear, I'm not saying Michigan St. and Iowa St. are as good as Duke or Houston. I'm saying they're all better than we are, by a long shot. Does it really matter if we lose by 20 points or 25 points?

I hear ya, probably true. I would just rather go into the game with the slightest glimmer of hope than none at all.

It was a HORRIBLE loss. Team coming in to our arena on a three game skid where they have looked like tore up dogcrap and stick it to us. Now, we're looking at losing 5 of our last 6-7 games. It drops our seeding in both the SECT and NCAAT. The timing of the loss, a home game(Senior Night to boot) plus all these factors make it a HORRIBLE loss. You can say it isn't but it is. Just bad.

We were never a "very good, legit top 10 team." Never even close. This is a top 25 team when it plays well. And outside the top 50 when it doesn't.
Until January 10th we were. 100%. Totally different team since then and it’s clear if you have eyes.

It really looks like we are worn down and our legs are gone. SEC has been a grind on every team but we seem affected more than most. Will likely lose 4 of 5 going into SEC tourney and I don't see us getting more than 1 win max in the NCAA tourney given we will likely see a 1 seed in the second round. We are a shell of the team we were coming into the SEC season where we started out destroying SC and beating Vandy handily in Nashville.
I agree 100%

Same team. Different competition. Everybody in sec is better than anybody we played in nonconference except maybe Memphis. And that’s maybe.

The team we have now doesn’t smoke Vandy at their place and doesn’t blow out Memphis at Memphis. You disagree?

It’s a high Quad 2 loss. Texas’s NET is 41, so this could be a low Quad 1 loss by the time Selection Sunday rolls around. I mean, it sucks to lose like that at home, but it’s not a ‘horrible’ loss.
It's a bad loss, no other way to say it. We needed it to try and avoid an 8-9 seed, but we are tanking at the wrong time. Will be very difficult to win a first round NCAA game now.

Boy, you're funny. That's a response of a person who knows he's wrong, so he try's to be mr. funny/cool to cover it up. That loss was BAD. It's dropped us to most likely an 8-9 seed, when a win would've gotten us a 6 seed. Obviously, you can't see or keep up with any of this or you'd realize this. Now, if we beat Arkansas it can make up for it some , but that is highly unlikely. The timing of that loss plus being at home is crushing. Make light of it if you like as we drop day by day in seeding.

The biggest difference I see is our ability to make 3 pointers. We were hitting them at a much better clip pre-SEC and early in the SEC season. Now we are only at about 25% makes every game. We have never been that good at defending the 3 (see PVA&M and Bethune-Cookman) but the fact we were making 3s ourselves made that easier to deal with. As stated though we just look like a tired team. I don't know if Jans is wearing them down too much in practice or what but it shows. We do normally do a bit better with that one extra day of rest so hopefully that will help us a bit at Arkansas on Saturday. Playing Tues after a Saturday or a Saturday after a Wed has been rough on us for whatever reason.
