Overrated???? There's no better dialogue than the ones between 'sweggin' and wu. I think it's vastly underrated. Swearengen and Omar from the wire are my two favorite tv characters of all time. The slightly edge walter white and John Locke.

All my friends think it's better than the wire and sopranos which are my two favorite series ever. I would choose quite a few hbo programs over deadwood but it's still a really good show. But you have to note, this is coming from someone who is obsessed with the show GIRLS. So what do I know.

Deadwood season 1 and 2 were

great. Season 3 was still good but not as good as the first two. In true hbo fashion, they abruptly decided to end the series and the last season suffered because of it. Even with the poorly planned ending, Deadwood is in my top three hbo series with Rome (which hbo screwed up also b/c of cost) and Boardwalk Empire.

HBO always delivers. Breaking Bad wouldn't come close to cracking the HBO top 5 IMO.

Wire
Sopranos
Rome
Boardwalk
Curb
Deadwood
Band of Brothers
Game of Thrones

Really liking the list my man. Rome is absolutely perfectly acted and written. I would kill for one more season. It's great. Here is my top 10 HBO in order. Also I 100% agree with you on BB.
Sopranos
The Wire
Curb
Six Feet Under
Boardwalk
GoT
Rome
Big Love (not kidding, it's great)
Deadwood
True Detective (I think after season 2 this would jump up a few spots)
I would suggest checking out bored to death (Ted Danson & galifinakis (sp), it's pretty great too)

Generation Kill was the best mini-series I have ever seen. Stay Frosty.

You had to get past the language (the "F" word alone was used over 3000 times in the 30+ episodes), but once you toughened up to that it was an incredible series. I hated that they didn't "finish" the story with one more season, or with a 2 hour movie, They left us hanging after season 3.
I loved the conversations between Swearengin and Wu. They would draw out their ideas on paper, talking about "the white c**k su****s".
And, how many throats were cut in the Gem?
