Hotels in Houston?

I'm planning on going to the Ok State game next year. I want to reserve my room now. Where are some good areas to stay in Houston? I want to stay in a fun (safe) area with lots of bars. Is downtown a good place to stay? Is the area around Reliant Stadium a good place?

I would stay around the galleria. From what I recall, there is not much happening around the stadium. Downtown sucks.

River oaks/ upper kirby areas are a good spot tons to do in upper Kirby/montrose/neartown/museum

Been living in Houston for 6 months now. The bars are all over Houston but are kind of clustered. Midtown is your young professional crowd and Washington St is another good place for bars. Galleria has some as well. I would recommend staying downtown at the Hyatt or similar and just catching a cab to the bars a 10 minute ride away. You can then take the light rail from downtown to the stadium and back. If you want to stay around the galleria, that's not bad either. I live in midtown just because I like the crowd and atmosphere. There are some bars in downtown too but more pregame style. PM me if you have any specific questions and I'll do what I can to help.

Hotel Zaza.

On the light rail line great bar. awesome hotel.

Take a cab to Washington Ave.

Take the train to midtown/downtown.

ZaZa is good as is Hotel Derick. Westin Galleria also works. Sorella is one of the top hotels in the country and in city center which is a pretty nice area.

I'll vote for ZaZa as well. Lived here 4 years, can walk to the stadium. Zaza has courtesy cars which will take you to wherever you want to go out. Sometimes they will even come pick you up. Pool scene there on weekends is a market. Reps rent us cabanas there sometimes during the summer and the scenery is good. The bar/restaurant usually has a few Texans in it and alot of cleat chasers.
