Or that it's kind of reminiscent of Polk's typed message.1

That has got to be so embarrassing for that dude. If my dad would have done something like that, I would be seriously pissed.

Theres no way I'm reading all of that, but from what I could get there is some pretty upset parents in Houston. Just waiting for one of our baseball players' parents to write something like that about Cohen for giving them the boot.

As if his buddy ball stats are valid support against him not getting a fair amount of playing time at a D-1 baseball program.

the #2 reason ol Coach34 doesnt coach anymore....**** like that is commonplace in HS baseball....When I'm having to meet with a parent in the Superintendent's office after making a line-up change, I knew I wasnt going to be coaching much longer. I started playing a 9th grader in the OF that was batting .500 (in limited AB's) over an 11th grader batting .230 (with many plate appearances)...the previous coach had told the 11th grader the LF job was his until he graduated.

I had to explain that I didnt have any part of that and wanted to see the contract the dad had stating the job was his son's until graduation. He and the Super looked at each other blankly. The guy stated of course there was no contract, and the last coach had told him that after practice one day. I stood up and told them- "well, until he produces a contract stating the kid is supposed to play Left every game, i'm going to play whoever in the hell I want. You gentlemen have a good day"

Damn I miss coaching

Maybe just killing the last hour at work...but Jimmy had the most appearances on the team his sophmore season with decent results. It was probably mostly mop-up work. It just looks like they got better pitching his last 2 years there.

told jimmy that he could pitch and bat. coaches do this all the damn time to pitchers. if you are a pitcher and can't see it coming that a coach will most likely want you to only pitch then your and idiot. also, a coach telling a player one thing during the recruiting process and then doing another once the season starts....NO WAY! who'd a thunk that? it's not like a team's make-up could change during by time a guy gets to campus. it's not like there may be people on campus now who actually can hit and little jimmy isn't up to snuff.

i hate the parents of today.

Shame players aren't allowed to transfer from Houston to another university like they can everywhere else. Oh wait......they can.

Apparently JIMMY is a knuckleball pitcher. Those aren't a real high commodity in the Big Leagues. Sure, if you're REALLY good at throwing a knuckleball, you can make a good living in the Big Leagues like Tim Wakefield or Phil Niekro, but it's a really hard pitch to master and control, and even the guys that are good, if their knuckleball is fluttering, they're gonna get hit. Conversely, if they're really on, they could pitch a no-hitter. I know that's true of just about anyone, but a more conventional style of pitching is going to be a little more consistent than a knuckleball pitcher.

I think that explains why he has dominating performances as documented and yet his ERA is in the 6's.

But there's also an old saying in baseball- if you're good, they'll (the scouts) find you. Heck, Ricky Bowen got drafted after he fell on his face. Ole Miss had a guy Chris Corrigan get drafted and he had numbers about as bad or worse than JIMMY. I think the difference between the three is the fact that Jimmy has a novelty pitch, but isn't consistently dominating with it, vs the others who are more conventional, and likely will be more easily "coached up".

Or, some teams probably saw the website and just don't want to deal with the family.

If I were them, I would have JIMMY try out for some Indy league teams or try to see if a big league team will sign him as a FA.

THE SCOUTS TOLD JIMMY THAT THEY CANNOT DRAFT SOMEONE IF THEY NEVER SEE THEM PLAY MORE THAN A FEW INNINGS ALL YEAR.

Didn't some MLB team draft Pat White, QB for West Virginia? Somehow, I believe that when you have a draft that goes 50 or 60 rounds, this guy's precious son would be picked up if he had any sort of talent. Sounds to me like the scout was saying some ******** to aggrieved diddy to get him off his back.
