Thurston played very well. He made good calls on the line once he got settled and not only made some good blocks but sustained his blocks. Cavanaugh did a good job on the sidelines with Thurston. It's a good thing Thurston believes in the next man up theory because he was definitely prepared.
Very pleased of his play and we didn't miss a beat. Good news also he has another year of eligibility.
For as few guys as we played this year, I feel pretty good about the youngsters waiting in the wings for next fall. I think they are being taught well in practice.
I hope this is the case with our younger ( 3 redshirt 2 Sophomores and 2 Juniors) and we have Gates to build around for next year.
Offensive line is my biggest worry besides TA continuing decision making going into next season.
But, but, but, we don't rotate so no back-up will be ready! Thurston did well last night, as did a lot of guys, played at a higher level with determination.
Yes, well-deserved congrats! Worried me when Reeves went out that early, but no noticeable drop off in the results says it all.
Thurston played well last year against USC. I was actually very surprised he didn't play/Start more this year. Especially with the constant high snap problems Reeves had all year!!
