I think we really took their best shot. We should give them credit. Depleted roster and they battled until the end. But, in reality, the game was never truly in jeopardy.

So much of it is about matchups. We beat Gonzaga (much better team than UL) without Butler, yet would never have won this game today without him. The reason? Hepburn was just a bad matchup for the Jax/Perry combo.

Having a PG who is a consistent threat beyond the arc, which Butler clearly seems to have become, makes a world of difference. Makes it hard for the defense to cheat. Makes it easier for other players to find scoring opportunities. Cures a lot of ills when other things might not be clicking.

Butler has exceeded my expectations. I had a feeling he would be good...but he wasn't exactly known as a big time offensive player before coming here. But man he has really taken a huge step on offense under Popes system.
