How bad would a loss be for Ole Miss today?

I think more than they care to admit. The calls for DK will be loud all off season if Dr. Bo plays like **** again. The divide caused by the egos they have over the length of the off season could be hard to bounce back from. We didn't come out of our funk till Texas A&M this season after Northwestern took us to the woodshed.

Am I making to much out of what a loss would mean for their program?

I think I lean the other way - it won't be as big of a loss as it would seem. Although I think it'll start to knock Freeze's perception with other SEC fan bases. As long as he brings in top 10 classes, their program will have momentum going into 2014, but he'll need more than 7 wins to keep it going in the future.

Whether you win or lose a bowl game usually isn't a huge deal, but it sure wouldn't help them to be on a three-game losing streak going into the offseason.

It would be funny if we won our bowl and UM lost theirs- after all the **** they've talked about our respective football programs, State would finish with the same record as UM and ahead of them in the SEC standings for four years in a row.

I think this is a huge point. If we ended up with he same record and the head to head advantage in conference that would be a nice dressing to our season. I think a three game loosing streak and a QB controversy could be just what we want for them this off season. I always want them to lose but for them to have to live with all that failure until next fall would be nice to watch.

It won't be a big deal to them. They already have the built-in excuses: No Jeff Scott, no Laremy Tunsil, etc.

It will be delicious on one level though: they talked so much crap after the egg bowl like they were going to prepare for this bowl game like it was a national championship game. It would be awesome to see them get that tail whipped and hear Freeze after the game talking about how he needs to recruit better football players aGAIN.

I don't think it will be particularly bad other than it will be indicative of where there program really is. It will show: (1) they are not better than a 7-5 ACC team (whose best win is over Duke maybe?) and/or (2) their DC cannot stop the option even after having time to prepare (which based on Ga Tech's previous bowl games, I would think would be a bad sign) and/or (3) like the triple option, UM's offense is easy to stop if you have the time to prepare.

But as far being somehow having a bigger effect than any other loss, I don't think it will be a big deal. It may cause some of their high profile recruits to realize just how far they have to go as a program, but that will just as much because of their other two losses to end the season as the bowl loss.

But I don't think it will be a problem. I know the SEC this year was not what it has been, but I would still think any SEC team other than UK and Arkansas with time to prepare for the triple option would be able to handle Ga Tech.

No big deal to them. Other teams play with hate in their hearts when playing against an SEC team. OM just won't want it as badly and they are OK with this because they have higher rated talent. Talent is what matters, not W/L records.

What they admit doesn't really matter, now does it? To be 7-3 and then finish 7-6 is not a "program on the rise." While I see them winning, they have a high risk to reward ratio going into this game.

in the mind of a rational/logical person? or in the mind of an ole miss fan?

Ga Tech is pretty physical up front. They cut the DL all day long, and I'm sure it gets old. You have to stuff the run to stop Ga Tech. I could see it either way. I could see OM stuffing it an handling them or I could see them pounding on OM all day. They sure did play Georgia to the wire, and really should have won. Georgia has more talent than Om, but that is a rivalry game and it will always be a knock down drag out.

I think it would put Om down in the dumps for a bit. it's not catastrophic. Ga tech is a good team.

Whether they admit it or not, I'll admit it. 17 em. I will be thrilled if they lose. Between the **** I see on social media, to the crap I listen to locally, and that troll on ED with penis envy pretending to be a Bulldog and tweeting what he posted to recruits, I'm starting to build an unhealthy hate for them.

Good point ...

No big deal to them. Other teams play with hate in their hearts when playing against an SEC team.

Maybe, just maybe, the recruits are begining to see through the BS and Schizophrenia.

David Murray said it best ... "Its hard to run a mission and a cat house at the same time."

Glad we won but I don't think it would've changed much. The ESPN guys kept stating that it would have a lot to do with recruiting but there's only a month left, and I don't think losing to GT would've changed anything. Obviously it looks better to win than to lose and may have some effect on early recruiting for the 2015 class. Coaches like it because it's like having a mini spring practice. I don't think the loss to NU last year negatively affected y'all as far as the 2013 class.

Honestly, after the Egg Bowl, I've seen so many Bears with their head in the sand

Irrelevant. They really expected to come into StarkVegas and roll us up like trash. Once that didn't happen.....I've seen many a Bear who could care less about this bowl game.

They should have....GA Tech wrapped a bow around it

Calling a trick play inside their own ten was ......well, stupid. Wallace didn't have the opportunity to choke away a W.

Sure he did. He made a clutch third down throw with a little over 2 minutes left that he has missed in the past.

I thought he had a nice bounce back game from what was the worst performance of his football career. Really only one bad play.

I thought Wallace played really well. He's kind of a douchebag, but he's a lot better QB than people give him credit for. And yeah, that was a nice pass. First pass I've seen Treadwell catch beyond the line of scrimmage all season (I've only seen about 4 of your games so I'm sure there are a few others).
